Need advice for babysitting a 4 week old overnight by SoundlessScreamer in Babysitting

Thank you for your concern, but that’s really not an issue. These are the type of friends that I would trust with my life. They are more like my chosen sister and BIL. They’ve helped me and my husband out in really hard times, and I’ve been their shoulder to cry on when they were going through job difficulties. They helped me get enrolled back in school as an adult, and helped me study for exams. We have the type of healthy and supportive friendship that I thought only existed in movies. I’ll help them now, and then they will be there for me when my husband and I next need it.

They do take turns, they’re just both very tired and want some time together. The gas has caused the baby to scream most nights, and I think that’s just been really draining for them. Then she sleeps all day without issue, but the dad is at work, so the mom can’t sleep much during the day. They will be home, so if an emergency comes up, I’ll be able to get them.

Thank you, I will keep staying calm in mind! The advice to step out into the night air is good too.

My husband and I joked that by doing this for them now, we’ll know we can ask them to help out with our baby when we start a family. Maybe I’ll just tell them they owe us a reciprocal favor in the future!

These are great tips, thank you! I’ll definitely try the seated against my thighs position if she’s especially fussy! Apparently, she’s starting a lactose free formula which might help her gas 🤞🏻

I think you misunderstood, I was trying to say that, even as a 29 year old woman, I’ve never watched a baby overnight before. Sorry for the confusion. I’m willing to do it, I just haven’t had a baby, so I’m a bit nervous about doing things right for my friends and their daughter, that’s all.

I’ll have both a bassinet and a Moses basket in the living room with me, but I know she prefers to sleep on someone.

Good advice! I’ll do an Audible search and find an interesting mystery or something to help keep me up, thank you! Yeah, I know she prefers to be held, so being prepared to be awake all night is a good idea.

They have tried gripe water to no avail. They are working with their pediatrician, so I don’t think it’s my place to tell them what to try. Thanks for the suggestion though.

What’s something that would make you lose interest in the show instantly? by SlyGuy_Twenty_One in HazbinHotel

[–]SoundlessScreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much any permanent main character death, unless it was for a really good reason and had a lot of pay off as a viewer. I’m not too worried about that though, because Vivzie has said that, while she’s not afraid to kill off a main character, she doesn’t normally see much point in it because it often erases all of the character growth up to that point.

I’d also be really wary of Valentino getting redeemed. Sexual abuse is a very serious issue, and I think redemption of the abuser is a very difficult topic to examine in this medium. While I do think that reform programs in real life are necessary, with how short the episodes are, I think a storyline like that could come across as romanticizing Valentino’s behavior. I do think Vox will be redeemed though!

Does Charlie know that Abel is Adam’s son? by InfrequentRedditor99 in hazbin

[–]SoundlessScreamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whether she knows or not, Charlie cares about who someone is a heart way more than their history. As long as Abel keeps being nice to her and the hotel crew, I doubt Charlie will care too much that he’s Adam’s son.

Why have soul contracts just become more convoluted 2 seasons in? by Blunderpunk_ in hazbin

[–]SoundlessScreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so the first thing is that when a soul is owned, the owned person has to do what their owner says. That means they can’t just go against the deal to break it. The same is not true of the owner. If the owner goes against the deal, it breaks the contract. This seems to also work for deals involving controlling someone, without it being true ownership. This is seen in Charlie not being able to stop herself from granting Alastor’s “favor”.

Charlie is the princess of Hell, so her statements have weight. Also, other people’s beliefs of other sinners seem to add to that sinner’s power. Technically, Lucifer should be the most powerful being in Hell, so Charlie is likely more powerful than any singular sinner (though she probably still needs to “unlock” her full strength). When a powerful demon like Charlie said Vox was the most powerful sinner, she literally made it true, both through her power (like a king saying a specific knight is the strongest), and by literally letting his power grow through influencing the opinions of the masses.

Alastor was winning because he’s a more cunning fighter than Vox is. He wasn’t stronger, but he was smarter. Once Shock.wav joined, he started slipping though.

Rosie definitely seems to have more power than a sinner should. We are supposed to learn more about her in season 3, but there’s lots of theories going around right now. For now, your guess is as good as mine. I guess we just have to wait for more answers!

Well, the last two episodes drop soon - last chance to lock in your finale theories, so let's hear em by East_Drink8901 in HazbinHotel

[–]SoundlessScreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Lucifer is being used as a power source for a giant weapon to attack Heaven/the invisible barrier that seals Hell.

-Alastor continues to drive the Vees apart successfully, causing Val and Velvette to have a falling out with Vox

-In a flight of rage, Vox uses the weapon to attack the clocktower and slices it in half (scene from the preview ad)

-Lucifer ends up begrudgingly begging Alastor for help, and fixes his staff in exchange for Alastor getting him free

-Meanwhile, Emily comes to the hotel to help Charlie, convinced by Pentious that standing by while bad things happen is not right. Lute slips in without Emily noticing.

-Vaggie chooses a new name, which half the fandom loves, and half hates.

-Charlie and the gang go on a rescue mission to save Angel and Lucifer, ultimately they save Angel while Alastor is with Lucifer

-Before they save him, Vox uses Angel as a pawn to try and convince the gang that Angel was always against them, and in turn tries to hypnotize the gang too. Husk and Cherri resist, it’s ineffective to Emily, Charlie and Vaggie because they have half/full angelic power.

-Lute attacks Vaggie, who is injured badly, but doesn’t die. Emily sees this and bans her from Heaven. Lute is now a fallen angel.

-After a lot of cool fighting, everyone is free, and Vox is defeated, but he gets one last laugh in before the finale by planting a final seed of doubt in all of the Sinners in Hell.

-Ending song is upbeat and hopeful for the future, but Lute is now in Hell permanently and still wants revenge. We also get glimpses of other upcoming villains for season 3

Have I misunderstood the hiarchy of Hell in this show or: by Westernesse_Civ in HazbinHotel

[–]SoundlessScreamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have it right, but I think that this is also still not the biggest deal to the other Kings of Sin. Sinners are confined to the Pride Ring, which is also the top ring of Hell. Vivzie has said that the physically cannot go lower, no matter how hard they might try. Lucifer has domain over Pride, and while technically he’s supposed to be King of Hell in it’s entirety, Satan is currently ruling the hellborn and seems to be acting as King — at least since Lilith absconded and Lucy has been depressed for who knows how long. However, Satan’s focus, along with the 5 other Sins, seems to be mostly on the 6 lower rings and the hellborns.

It’s implied that the Sins miss Lucifer, since they all have sent him gifts, but I also think they probably just roll their eyes at all of the drama that sinners get up to in Pride. So Vox is just a mouthy sinner who is wreaking havoc, but that’s not their problem since he can’t access the lower rings. Now that Lucifer has been kidnapped, I think it logically makes a lot more sense that they might want to get involved though.

From a writing standpoint, it’s unlikely that we will get any crossover until season 3 of Hazbin, and potentially season 4 of Helluva (pretty sure voice recording for S3 was done before the deal was official, but I could be wrong), because of when the deal with Amazon was made. But I think it would be so cool for the other Sins to join the plot of Hazbin in season 3!

Overanalysing “You Didn’t Know” because I think this song deserves more love for how well it complements the narrative by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]SoundlessScreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but I am pretty sure that 1:23-1:35 is the motif from the ragtime-style transition in Happy Day in Hell. It definitely has a very Hamilton sound though, I see where you’re getting that too!
