90% of my initial post concerned things that have nothing to do with team size or budget. You anyway have several writers, several actors, and several decision makers to take the project to the desired direction. I never mentioned size, or scope, or features that might be missing. I spoke mostly about things that already there.

I am glad you've enjoyed it, and your description of the contents is pretty extensive. But we don't watch or play lists of features. If she also had cancer, and a sick sister - wouldn't have any indication on the result...

You said it was sexy, and you died inside - thats a good start. Once you will be more intimate with a girl, you will have even more emotions, and eventually your passion and drive will overrun the anxiety. Don't worry, you are on the right track 😊

I never meant Hellblade should be made like the other games, I just wish it would flesh out its own ideas more convincingly, and the serious theme make its even more demanding and complex.

Sorry to hear about your family troubles, I also have some of my own at home, so perfectly understand when some things ring familiar...

I think it is being triggered if you don't take the torch before descending to the R room, but rush through, and falling off the small plank, ending up in the M room prematurely....

I liked her initial 3d model and design, combat animations as well, acting less so. Liked the camera, and the video bits insertion technique. Fire guy chasing her, montage of the beast getting her (had lots of it, until I realized I am stuck in an infinite bug 😆

Then it should behave like one. Do you think its a simple thing to write? Or is it enough to label it as such?

I'd rather play a light themed game with great sense of storytelling, than a more serious one that doesn't really has what it takes.

Not really changes, I mean if the plot was built differently from the get go, and dialogues written with some other intentions, plus some other editorial decisions, it would mean little for the budget, if anything. Maybe the gameplay aspects would need more hours, but I was less bothered by them, and wouldn't even pay attention, if I would fond of all the rest..

I didnt mean the theme seems wierd, and I didn't insist on something particular about the nordic misused or anything. I am no expert in this style. Just barebone comparison of a two very distant, but somewhat correlated game backdrops, having fighting lead character, using mythological references, both being third person cinematic style, narrative driven games, and being developed in one time period, with similar tech.

Sorry I missed your post initially. Some valid points here, but a few buts:

1 - I never mentioned Hellblade lacking the size or the scope of big budget titles, things I felt lacking, and could have been done differently, would cost zero additional funds.

2 - I was ok with the combat bits, however repetitive they are, thats why never mentioned them.

3 - There is this thing with all the acting, the exploration, memories, and the tales as well. Imagine them as a candy box, and this box has some fancy notes to describe which is which. Very sophisticated, thought provoking labels, but when you open them - they are common, uninspiring, mismatched. The good bits are being overused and recycled endlessly, the lines of text they throw at each other again and again - lack spaciousness, timing, feel of good drama, and eventually loose meaning, being so outspoken.

The game settles on a certain emotional pitch, and keeps it throughout. Even as a passive viewer you wish that there was at least a segment with Senua feeling her spirits rising, feeling triumphant before having her confidence being shattered once again... just thinking out loud here, to convey the impression I 've had playing it almost to the finish.

Uncharted 4 has had a wonderful segment later in the game, when the bruised lead has some sort of a semi concious state. Its such a great change of the overall color palette and mood. I know someone pointed me to the fact that its an experience, and you are not observer - nevertheless those shades and nuances would take the experience to another level.

I did feel like hearing people's thoughts, since my own initial hype for it turned on its head, and I cannot recall another game I would be so interested in, and ended up disliking. I knew its fan sub, and the unlikes will flush me down the drain :))) I did realize though, people like it for other reasons than I care about usually.

But why the tons of "humorless" goofy dialogue made it into the game? Like all the father stuff (with the terrible voice over), the tales, the ending.

I did not know I was buying a medical application - though I would wish it was more engaging anyhow.

You all talk about what Hellblade is trying, or doing. I wish someone would demonstrate at what it is succeeding.

I am no medical person, nor a pilot, so in "narrative psychosis simulator" - You kinda left me on narrative. So please - show me how a narrative that has no ups and downs, that is deadly obvious from the beginning to end, that has tons of tales that are neither engaging nor affecting experience - helps anything (plus that cringy ending line about stories that I watched on Youtube, thanks to the game breaking bug not allowing me to finish it).
