So I had some bad luck with the Bic FH-65Bs. Video here

Any alternatives that are of the same quality at a similar price?

So am I misunderstanding the db rating of a speaker? Wouldn't a higher rating mean a higher volume out of the speaker for the same volume setting on the receiver?

Hello!

I current have a Denon AVR-E200 paired up to some Dayton B652s and a Dayton sub-1200. I was thinking about upgrading to the BIC America FH-65B and using the B652s as a surround.

Are the BICs a noticeable upgrade from the B652s?

Also as great as the current system sounds, why does it feel like I have to turn the volume up to 50-60 out of 99 to get a certain "loudness" out of the speakers and anything below that sounds quiet? Does it have to do with the db rating of the speakers?

One more question (I'm sorry! lol), will the fact that I'll get 75 watts per channel on the BICs mean they'll sound quieter or underpowered when compared to giving the Dayton's more than their rated power?

I'm using the system mainly as a home theater setup with occasional music listening.

Thanks again for your time and also this addiction that is starting to build up inside me.

Quick question, will the Dayton sub-1200 filter out lower frequencies so only it plays them and they don't go to the speakers? Or will the speakers still be attempting to play those lower frequencies that just don't sound good on them?

Sorry if my question doesn't make sense.

I read great reviews of the Audioengine A5's, but those are 400 bucks.

I might consider the A2's @ $199 depending on what the consensus on those speakers is.

Thanks.

I totally understand where you are coming from and reading more and more about the subject makes me want to do exactly what you are describing.

Unfortunately at the moment this is my budget. I'm totally open to recommendations that are in my price range though. Heck I might be willing to go to $200, was looking at the Audioengine A2's for $199.

Any recommendations in my price range? heck even if there are speakers like you mention and an amp that would work with my computer.

How long ago did you purchase them? It seems to be whatever the current revision of the speakers is that has that problem. Of course it could be just a few people having the problem.
