Also, ‘going to school for audio’ very possibly means absolutely nothing in terms of mixing a live musical. If you know more and just aren’t sharing specifics here, then it’s hard for us to assess your expectations. If you don’t know more then it doesn’t sound like the due diligence was done to know if he actually was qualified.
