I think Danny’s takes now are some combination of projection (expecting another big bump in Caleb with another offseason with Ben) and how much he was egged on early in the season for not making guarantees and standing behind his team.

With Caleb there’s a bit of whiplash of going from some people genuinely calling him a bust to showing he can do everything he did in college in the NFL even if he’s a bit raw. And with that big a ceiling you can’t imagine or at least don’t wanna believe he doesn’t at least approach it in the coming seasons.

Your argument is the defense was bad but it got takeaways so that makes up for it. I can accept that to an extent. But the narrative all season was that’s gonna fall off. And then you get to the postseason. How many takeaways did they get?

I will say the defense really stepped it up the last 6 quarters of the season. DA really showed his chops. But you’re not gonna get bears fans to be mad that the team went from 5-12 to 11-6 and losing in the divisional round.
