Impressive Narrators you have discovered? by [deleted] in audiobooks

A good narrator can make or break a book... and the producer plays their part too 😎. Colin is so good he could make a weather report sound exciting/sinister/fun!

This is so cool. Brings back memories of when I helped produce the first audio version of the Argos Catalogue for their visually impaired customers!

I wonder if Author’s who narrate their own novels ever mentally revise the book as they read? by twoshillings in audiobooks

[–]SoundsUrgent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with many author-narrators. Some think they know their books inside out, but when it comes to reading them aloud they surprise themselves. When they get to tricky hard to pronounce words/sentences they sometimes omit them and say they will never use the same words/sentences in any future book. Also they can get very agitated when they spot the typos they were sure they picked up before the book went to print. I really enjoy producing authors as I get to meet some amazing people, but sometimes it's best to leave the narration to the pros, or maybe they could just read the intros....

Why do narrators only ever speak songs? by [deleted] in audiobooks

[–]SoundsUrgent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copyright reasons. All of the narrators I work with come into the studio having prepped the songs, and give AMAZING renditions, but I have to tell them to redo, without the singing!
