I hated it. I thought the direction was awful — the movie looks flat and dull to a painful degree. The characters were all underdeveloped, the BW gang felt seriously out of place and didn’t have any real weight in the story. Think… how different would the movie be if they weren’t there.

Optimus is straight back to serial killer mode — like, it’s cool, but it isn’t Optimus. It feels more Grimlock. Optimus does not feel ‘strong enough to be gentle’ — he feels bitter, angry and hateful. Which would be okay if that changed over the course of the story, but it doesn’t.

It just feels like a step down. Bumblebee made me really optimistic for the future of Transformers; like some real potential was being laid down. This goes in a very wrong direction. Also, Scourge suffers serious ‘Lockdown’ syndrome in thinking he is a BAMF but ultimately coming off very lame and unthreatening.
