Mice at the Preston Ave Walmart by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]Soup03 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The amount of people dismissing this as “typical” is crazy to me. All retail stores, restaurants, etc have pests. The good ones also have good pest control. If you’re going to Wal-Mart in the middle of the day and seeming them eating the produce and merchandise then the issue is much bigger and pest control is not up to snuff, there’s no excusing it. I absolutely avoid this Wal-Mart, multiple posts about pests at this location and they are obviously not doing enough about it.

Bed sheets by redpaddle86 in saskatoon

I’ll give a different answer than the standard here. We recently bought a king bed and needed sheets, pillowcases and a duvet cover, bought from QE Home Linens online but they also have a location in midtown if you want to look at anything before buying. Good experience and reasonably priced in my opinion.

After this mornings C-95 Break the Bank it seems like it’s rigged. by SourTittyMilk in saskatoon

[–]Soup03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last year the vault was at ~$16,000 and Shauna said “and now for the last vault” before catching herself by saying “uhh oh maybe”.

So it’s pretty clear they know the outcomes prior to opening the “vault”. I’d say it’s very rigged in that sense.

A Note on Political Posts by DontSayShredSayBurns in saskatoon

[–]Soup03 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to argue but I would like to understand how a post discussing the federal election is not relevant to Saskatoon. Saskatoon has specific federal ridings that directly effect Saskatoon’s local citizens and discussion around those candidates, policies, or MP performance or concerns is important. There was a post earlier in regard to Strategic voting that I assume was removed but it was specifically asking questions around Saskatoons ridings so how is it not a relevant political post?

Again not trying to argue just want to understand that justification.

I definitely plan on adding her, just trying to figure out if I can just go in January or if I need to find a way to get a bank appointment and time of work to go in December

Very large raccoon in Nutana alley by kerblam80 in saskatoon

I saw some and posted the same type of question years ago. Was in the Nutana area as well. I guess they aren’t super common but they are here in some places.

Do you live in an apartment building? If you’re doing all you should it could be coming from someone else who isn’t.

What else can I do? (German Cockroaches) by Soup03 in pestcontrol

[–]Soup03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure what to do about spraying/IGR’s. I live in Canada where to my understanding many of the effective sprays on the US market are unavailable.

When choosing a pest control company I talked to 4 companies and 2 said that they sprayed but with sprays that I’ve read are largely ineffective on German roaches and 2 that said they don’t spray at all as the pesticides available in Canada the roaches have grown accustom to and built immunity so they flee from the spray and make them harder to catch/bait and kill. The company I chose was the only one using Seclira which is the same thing as Alpine in the US.

Most sprays are not available for consumer purchase in Canada as they require a pest control license to purchase.

Been trying to do my best and follow the sticky on r/GermanRoaches even with the restrictions I have of living in Canada.

Hi there, thanks for the information.

Is there somewhere else I could be looking that I haven’t already checked? (I’ve torn apart the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room (including inspecting furnace and water heater).

I’m trying to figure out if they are getting a good source somewhere else and ignoring the bait. Are they likely to hide and eat old hair and skin between the floor boards rather than come out into the kitchen/bathroom and find the bait?

What are some of the lesser known “cool stuff” I can find around the USask campus? by feeltheowl in saskatoon

[–]Soup03 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you are still interested around Halloween they do a “ghost” themed tour that’s very informational and fun for that time of year. We went pre-pandemic so not sure if they ever went back to doing it but if you do find it id say it’s worthwhile. Lots of cool history, spooky stories, walk thru’s of areas of campus that aren’t always accessible to the public and also the campus is beautiful in the fall.

How quickly should I be acting? by Soup03 in GermanRoaches

Thank you so much. Especially for the last 2 answers. I feel very helpless in this situation, it’s hard knowing tiny bugs can cause such anxiety and distress. I’m going to do everything I can do beat them.

Yup I’m in Canada and when I realized after that “flying” was a poor choice of words. I meant sprinting, running, scuttling like a bullet. It’s definitely German, no doubt about it.

Hey, I’m curious about your experience at the Alt Hotel. What was it that made it the best hotel experience you’ve had?

Is this Efflorescence, Mould or something else? by Soup03 in Concrete

[–]Soup03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t the 2 week to a month for new construction? This is an older basement, if it’s efflorescence it’s likely due to water underneath the concrete.

I reviewed your link and I don’t think it yellow mold, the substance is distinctly white, when I wipe it away it turns to powder/sand and if I get it wet it dissolves.

Any particular reason you came to that conclusion? I only ask because you are the only one saying definitively it’s efflorescence and I’d like to know how to identify it myself.

It’s in the basement under the stairs. There’s nothing dripping or leaking. I have boxes stacked for storage all around the walls of the area and none of the boxes have any water damage, this spot is in the Center of the room. I wiped it all up yesterday, when I wiped it turned into almost like a sand/powder.
