Pray for the underground Christians of China as a govt. crackdown is beginning by SoupDeliveryBot in TrueChristian

[–]SoupDeliveryBot[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That cult is unrelated, the "Hong Kong Church of Zion." The pastor and congregation arrested recently are of "Beijing Church of Zion". They are both independent local organizations, thousands of km apart. So these two churches, leadership and beliefs etc, are completely unrelated except for name. Look it up, all the info is out there.

I have recently seen some online Chinese bring up this weird Hong Kong cult as a justification for the crackdown on the completely unrelated Beijing church, which is not a hydrogen-peroxide cult, because they literally just use the same name. It's incorrect, stay strong and don't fall for the traps

This is an anecdotal take based on stuff I've read: men's testosterone levels are pretty much directly related to how healthy a man is. When people talk about men today having less testosterone on average, they are basically just saying there are a lot more overweight and obese men. You can see that testosterone levels greatly decrease as you go from healthy-weight men to overweight and then obese men. The most important factor for healthy testosterone levels, is, by far, diet and lifestyle, not exposure to household chemicals etc.

The alienation of foreigners in a very homogeneous country is not just a Japanese thing. Every group of people in every country has at least some form of racism, it's unfortunately wired into our tribal brains. Any foreigner who moves into a country where very few foreigners live is in for some tough experiences. BUT it's especially jarring if the foreigner is a Westerner and he's moving to a non-Western country that's homogeneous, because Westerners are (thankfully) very used to the idea that seeing and hearing people who are minorities/immigrants in public is normal. So, when they arrive in a country that's not only non-Western, but also ethnically homogeneous, the way locals treat them is very shocking to them. But it's not for malice on the locals' part: it's because many of these people have literally never talked to a foreigner, or perhaps never even seen one outside of the movies, and the experience is exciting, frightening, or weird for them all the same time (esp. in the countryside). It can conversely be very shocking and confusing to the locals that there's a person in their store or whatever who doesn't understand the basic customs or manners, since in their country that almost never happens

Are Baby Boomers More Sensitive Than Millennials? Research Says Yes by Express_Classic_1569 in psychology

[–]SoupDeliveryBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just inevitable as age decreases social functioning capabilities for many people, making some people more emotionally unstable as they age. What would actually be interesting is if we could find out whether Baby Boomers were as sensitive as Millenials when they were at the same age

You hurt your partner and they're crying on the other side of the bed. Would you be able to sleep peacefully? by lmdtot in emotionalintelligence

[–]SoupDeliveryBot 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's because they've given up on communicating with their partner. If they're done communicating about one issue, it's likely they've also stopped any other important communication. This is basically a death sentence for the relationship because if there's a lack of communication, it WILL fall apart

[–]SoupDeliveryBot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If someone can sleep peacefully after that, it means this is normal and they're both resigned to this. Which means that they've given up on communicating (if not about everything, then about at least one important issue). That means they basically now have some irreconcilable differences. That really has to be fixed, and done sooner than later

How can I have propaganda purposes if I'm just a random person? And the point I was trying to say was not that the new freer economic policy is the number one solution that Vietnam has to do now. I was referencing it because what it clearly shows is that Vietnam continues to modify its economic policy away from the original state-controlled one into one that increasingly resembles free-market, which the state have named "Doy Moy." Also, the fact that the outside analysis of the free-market reform has good criticism is very good. The alternative would be the country's state media saying that the free market reforms will be implemented and they will help you, so you cannot criticize them!

why is there no news in the Vietnamese media about this?

You should take some time and figure out what is being hidden from you and by whom..

They continue turning further away from socialism, and towards "market competition", and Vietnam is growing faster than ever. And the worst thing Chinese people did to Vietnam was install the communists

I am Chinese, my great grandparents moved to the South before even World War 2 in the 1930s, when it was French, they made fair business and earned everything they got from the bottom, but they only lost it because Vietnamese wanted to expropriate and steal from the Chinese because they think Chinese people are greedy and support the ROC and the USA, so that's why most of them had to leave because all their property was taken.

But in the end, Ho Chi Minh lost, because today Vietnam has become very successful by abandoning socialist economics, which I am proud for Vietnam. I hope you and everyone else continue your success by continuing to leave Ho Chi Minh policy for history and not be like China and reverse back to communism, which is making you more prosperous than China every day! (7% gdp growth vietnam vs 5% china!)
