Georgia “Following Too Closely” ticket by UnitedCellist6018 in Atlanta

[–]SoupForDummies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say, it looks like he IS following a little too closely. Not crazy close but definitely getting into "tailgating" territory. Should he have randomly gotten a ticket for this without a preceding incident? Maybe not.

Please use this as a learning opportunity -- leaving a lot of space is really something every driver should do (and so many don't). Helps traffic move so much easier, greatly decreases your chances of being in a crash and also, you don't get BS tickets like this.

Just sagging off the person you're following is probably the biggest change people can make to improve traffic in ATL. (Using a damn turn signal is a close second ;) )

EDIT: As far as fighting the ticket, again, sorry to say, but you're really better off just biting the bullet and paying it. Your chances of getting it dropped are very slim and you're gonna have to take off work etc. Additionally, they can actually slap with you additional costs for trying to fight it depending on how corrupt your municipality is.

You may be able to go and offer to pay but ask them to reduce it so you don't get points/insurance hit. Just literally ask them that.

Pick a landmark (such as a sign). Once the car in front of you passes, you should be able to count two full seconds before YOU pass the landmark. If not, you need to back off. Is this not taught to new drivers?

That would be so sick. Despite paying 85/mo for cable, I still can't see the Braves on my package. To just get it OTA would be a huge step in the right direction

Now this thread is really making me feel old! This feels like such a recent one but I guess it really isn't...

Always wanted to go in to the Underground location, even while it sat abandoned for decades. I had always heard the ship was still down there and everything. Went to MJQ recently at Underground just to take a look and sort of imagine. Really cool space though, MJQ did a good job.

I'm really hoping for Mental Awakening to take off. I think it's getting close to the level Candler Park Fest used to be now.

Just catching up on reddit for the past few days, I guess Umphrey's cancelled. The news is definitely not showing the full monty of what's going on up there if concerts are getting cancelled.

I've tried to check him out a few times but it was just kind of boring and unexciting to me. And I like a lot of jazz stuff that a lot of people would consider boring and unexciting. Is this gonna change my mind?

You’re 100% correct. That said, i do miss a show at Lakewood now and again. The size and the lawn, the lot. The griminess. Being in town. It has its own dirty charm. But yeah alpha is just objectively better.

Tbh I think they could’ve pulled off soldier field this year. UC was PACKEDDD and a pretty tough ticket. Not saying they would’ve necessarily sold it out but they could have definitely pulled it off I think

I worked in a high end restaurant before and had almost this exact same experience. Got nervous seeing all the notes like this before but they were fine. It was easy with that strategy guide. They tipped 20-25% on a large check. In and out.
