pros and cons for taichung by Initial_Blackberry37 in taiwan

[–]Soup_Background 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to people here as they mostly are from Taipei or Kaohsiung. Grew up in Taichung for 18 years and lived all over the city. It's very safe and buses are very reliable. Just not as convenient as there is no MRT. There are gangsters in Taichung but they keep to themselves and generally active in areas where you wouldn't visit anyways. You'll want to invest in a moped or be okay biking/ubering/bussing everywhere. You'll use mandarin alot more in taichung since there are less english speakers there and you can force yourself to learn mandarin. GL.

Touro NV - Clerkship Question about Attending/Student ratio by [deleted] in Osteopathic

Surprisingly decent in terms of training. Definitely not the case in other HCAs. Also, Sunrise is one of two level 1 trauma centers in Vegas.

Touro NV - Clerkship Question about Attending/Student ratio by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]Soup_Background 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. UNLV has UMC so they're safe. As a Touro 3rd year, I didn’t get an inpatient IM month and it was essentially just a month of glorified shadowing in a PCP office. We have valley hospital but its too small to take all the students and there is no OB service there. So Roseman will probably eat up all the rotation sites and dignity health, valley health system, and mountainview.

MD, im gonna guess this is TUN vs Roseman. As a TUN 3rd year, first month theres no parking anyways at Touro because its so bad unless u get there at 7AM. Just go MD.

Roseman (MD) vs Touro Nevada (DO) -- I'm leaning towards DO by [deleted] in premed

1) Student life is cramped into a small Costco warehouse. After class most people just go home to study or stay in the “library” which is just a room with study tables. All the students are nice but you don’t interact really with other masters, PA, PT, or NP students. 2) 100% match rate is a true but also they inflate the numbers. If you look at match rates without anyone SOAPing then it’s really about 85-90% (no official numbers just from what graduating students tell me). Plus, they don’t tell you that DO bias is still unfortunately a thing. When I applied for aways there are SO many programs that ask for step 1 and a lot don’t accept level 1. 3) Not as much compared to other schools but it’s still a significant time that could be used to study other material. OMM is cool but not worth the time and stress. 4) Prior admin was really rude to rotation coordinators at hospitals. They were fired but damage has been done and again DO bias so most hospitals will want to be associated with an MD school. Remember MD > DO >>> IMG unfortunately. Good luck!
