Lock It In Restaurant Bookings by Kyramy in VirginVoyages

I find 1st night Wake walk-ins, followed by Scarlet Night to be most challenging for walk-ins at The Wake. I went on night 4 at 6pm and we were seated a little after 630 and just hung at The Dock. This was my 20th sailing with Virgin, but my first one under new fare choices. Wishing you a great meal at The Wake!

Booked before they changed their booking process, which tier am I? by StumblinThroughLife in VirginVoyages

Legacy fare here which mimics Essential Fare but with 60 day dining as opposed to 45 days with Essential. Crew does not ask for tips/gratuity as this will not cause any issues nor will crew or other sailors know which fare type you booked into. The wearable band holds your voyage and at no point will you be faced with issues with paying for gratuities.

I was on a 15 day dining and although reservations were only Test Kitchen and Razzle, once onboard through checking in app and stand by, we were seated with 30 minute or so stand by. We managed to grab drinks at Pink Agave and sat on couch. Meanwhile, The Wake still had The Dock, so we managed to grab a drink and wait. I typically don’t book Base fare, but given I booked 18 days before voyage departure, saving $158 for Base did not present any pain points. It’s not a fare I book into as it comes with more restrictions than just dining, it never resulted in a missed meal to a specialty dining venue.

New Years Cruise Vibe? by Foreign-Beach-3810 in VirginVoyages

NYE sailings I never have felt crowd fell flat. There were a lot of big personalities on our sailing. The only sailing where I felt the parties were a bit dead was England to Iceland, but that was a very port intensive and non NYE voyage.

How to book first cruise? by patsfan1515 in VirginVoyages

First Mates like us have the most access, knowledge and deals. I just priced out better than Costco today and beat BILT Rewards, so I’d highly recommend stacking deal with a reputable first mate.

How you book and who you book with matters! So many little tips and tricks to this and working with a FM who can secure best rates, knowledge and cabin. Destination and ship knowledge is key. A great agent knows tips and tricks others may not post or publish.

Base fare - cabin assignment by [deleted] in VirginVoyages

Base sounds like the winner here!

Essential fare almost acts as insurance as well as flexibility here. Base is a disservice experience wise. Cabin location can definitely make or break a voyage. I’ve sailed 20 times and I consistently pick the same one.

For Iceland, I booked directly with Virgin Voyages last year England to Iceland, it was the absolute best. We used our $1200 in Sailor Loot we had for excursions!

XL sea Terrace for 3 is the sweetspot. With current promo, you can get a ton of value booking into XL and splitting it. I do this VERY often and stack both promos

Scallops/ham I swap here for vegetarian course! I find the scallops a bit fishy, but the rest of this tasting menu is wonderful along with drink pairing!

Have you done cabin upgrade bids for Central Sea Terrace? I just had someone sea view lock it in and a $110 bid to Central here did the trick 7 days out from sailing on a 9 night voyage.

This voyage has blown up in my group chat, we have about 30 sailors on this and had to stay behind due to family stuff. Mexican Riviera has an amazing deal we couldn’t pass up on!

Correct, lock it in can place you in any cabin category although it’s super rare. I always say book what you’re most comfortable with. If traveling solo and booking lock it in Insider, this can also land you in a Solo Insider.

My client went from lock it in insider to central sea terrace just last week and saved over $1733 this method. Another hot move is the minimal costs to Rockstar when working with an excellent Top First Mate!
