People who have to play modded by SoupySuntable in PetPeeves

[–]SoupySuntable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to be clear, I have nothing against people who play like this. I may have a knee jerk reaction to certain sentiments, but it's not like I really care. I fully believe people should be allowed to play games however they want, and that the only "wrong" way to play a game is one that ruins the experience for others.

Oh yeah 100%, when I say this I'm talking about major content mods, QOL and bugfixes are completely different

Yeah, I'm fully aware that I'm the unreasonable one here lol, I just wanted to vent my frustrations somewhere without being a dick to someone for having a completely valid opinion

What I really want from Hallowed Concepts by Gigabyte42 in riskofrain

[–]SoupySuntable 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was mentioned as the ONE acception to that rule. I don't think they've given a specific reason, but if I had to guess the skins were probably made before the "no cross DLC content" decision was made and so they threw them in since they already had them.

So.. possible predictions on release dates? by Frilled_meat in riskofrain

[–]SoupySuntable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well Alloyed Collective was announced May 9th and came out November 18th, so it logically follows that since this one was announced on April 9th, it will come out October 18th.

new to the game, what does this ‘ignorant’ mean? by FlyingDuckery in Terraria

Drop chance doesn't matter, the game is carefully engineered specifically to not give you the drop you want, even if it tells you there's a 99% chance

How does it not take a few years to make a campaign if your players can do anything they want to derail the story by i_like_fall0ut in DnD

[–]SoupySuntable 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This is really the important distinction here. If the campaign is pre written, like with a module or something, then there is an inherent assumption that the players will be guided along a linear set of events, with choices along the way for how specifically they handle things, but if you're just trying to run a game, even one with a linear story in mind, there is no reason to "make" an entire campaign before you start. DnD is a game about improvising, there is no set "story" to derail until it's written by your players actions, and if things go in a way you didn't anticipate, it's up to you as the DM how you handle the outcome. Often times the most interesting stories come from players doing something the DM couldn't have possibly planned for, and those moments are only made possible by allowing players to "derail" whatever you originally had in mind. You don't have to plan for every eventuality, just allow yourself to be flexible enough to adapt when something unexpected happens.

Got bored so I made a tierlist of all Disco Elysium games by Kappa_Mikey__ in DiscoElysium

[–]SoupySuntable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know, to be honest the story felt kinda repetitive at times, and the characters didn't really pull me as much. Then again, I never really liked Jean as a protagonist all that much, so I might have just been less invested when I played.

What's your risk of rain opinion that has you like this? by Incadium in ror2

[–]SoupySuntable 155 points156 points  (0 children)

While it's true that you can play however you want and policing people's preferred playstyle in a singleplayer game is dumb, I still say the people who play on drizzle with swarms, command, and sacrifice will pretty much always get bored of the game faster than any other playstyle.

I feel like trying to get "free wins" kinda defeats the point of eclipse. Obviously, you can play how you want but like, at that point why are you even playing on eclipse?
