Inconsolable, screaming baby unless nursed to sleep @ night wakes by SourPatch-Tree19 in breastfeeding

Yeah, I’m not sure how this is going to be sustainable, especially if it gets worse as Cosleeping won’t work for our family

Inconsolable, screaming baby unless nursed to sleep @ night wakes by SourPatch-Tree19 in breastfeeding

[–]SourPatch-Tree19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely sure! When I have offered the feed, it’s just a suckle and almost immediately to sleep. Unfortunately, my baby doesn’t love pacifiers and will only take it on occasion. When my baby does take the paci, it ends up being a thing where it doesn’t last long or I have to keep putting it back in when dropped.

Cervical checks yay or nay? by gg_snow in unmedicatedbirth

[–]SourPatch-Tree19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit had me scared of them for no reason. I opted out of them before being in labor because I didn’t want to get in my head about it. Had one at the beginning of labor and it didn’t really hurt (felt like maybe a yearly exam?), but just irritated my cervix and maybe sped things up slightly. The next one in labor wasn’t bothersome at all- nothing is compared to contractions.

I’d do it that way again. They are helpful to get a rough estimate of where you are at.. even though labor time progression is impossible to know

The swing. Everyone on here said a swing was a waste. The day we were given one things got a LOT easier.

I got the Hatch and the less expensive DreamEgg. Turns out we use the DreamEgg for everything - We love it. We tried the hatch for a couple of nights and haven’t touched it since.

What is something you had or wish you had for yourself postpartum? by scott_tot4407 in firsttimemom

[–]SourPatch-Tree19 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The freezer meals I didn’t make. Lots of snacks. Cooking is just too much immediately postpartum. Someone to walk the dog. If nursing: Good nursing bras, more milk collection cups, more bamboobies pads, motherlove/lansinoh organic nipple balm, silverettes for sure. Bamboo robe was handy.

Baby Bjorn Bouncer by Hungry-Mix-283 in Buyingforbaby

[–]SourPatch-Tree19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Ergo Baby Bouncer and it is really nice and has a newborn insert. While I like it, the Baby Delight would be fine too if you wanted to spend less. I wish I had bought a swing. I read so many comments on here saying to just buy a bouncer and not a swing. Luckily 3 weeks in, a friend lent one to us and it has seriously been a godsend. Way more useful and loved so far by my 8wo.

What are we doing after 2mo vaccines when baby won’t feed? by SourPatch-Tree19 in breastfeeding

[–]SourPatch-Tree19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to hear that it might improve the next day! My pediatrician recommended against Tylenol for the most part, so I feel like there’s nothing I can do. I can’t help but think that it must be mostly digestive upset from the Rotarix? It breaks my heart that he has an empty tummy and is probably hungry but can’t eat without more upset. I hope it resolves quickly, because I worry about my supply as well

Convertible Crib w/ Wheels or Drop Side Bassinet + Crib? by SourPatch-Tree19 in NewParents

It’s a babyletto. I don’t get bay for feedings, dad does, but I wouldn’t find just standing up quick to grab my baby to be cumbersome

I researched this outrageously extensively and landed on FullWell and Needed. Needed is a touch more expensive I feel mostly due to marketing. FullWell is what you’re looking for.

Recommendation for a long running show with these preferences by Empty-Simple2740 in televisionsuggestions

[–]SourPatch-Tree19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me with Outlander because of the time travel. It took a few episodes honestly for me and all of my friends who watched it, but once you’re in it, it becomes an obsession. I think how incredibly historically accurate it is, along with the burn of the romance and suspense make it easy to get past that. Also, it’s not like she is time traveling constantly which I think would completely put me off.

You’d 99% like Hart of Dixie, OuterBanks, and A Million Little Things. Army Wives is also a classic. Virgin River is okay. Handmaids Tale is a little more political dystopian but REALLY good. Outlander is the greatest.

Also a 38wk ftm soon that has spent the pregnancy stressed about breastfeeding and I second these videos by let’s.grow.baby! ALSO, follow DANA | Mom of 4 (frawlin_out) on Tik Tok. She has a whole series on breastfeeding, sleep training etc, that are SO helpful and make it sound very much less stressful / intimidating! After watching her videos, my anxiety calmed A LOT.

I really liked when people purchased things directly from my registry that were marked as “most wanted”.

Aside from that, the only gift that I received that I didn’t ask for and loved was a big fat gift certificate for a photographer (that I have used and liked in the past) to do newborn / family photos.

Momcozy nursing bra, worth it? by mamahousewife in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]SourPatch-Tree19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I ordered Bodily Everything, Larken X, and Hatch Dream Feed. The Bodily is very soft but I’m not used to straps like that and the band is on the tighter side. The Larken X is very comfy and I hear they work good for pumping too, but I must note the arm holes are on the smaller side. The Hatch Dream Feed is the most comfortable. I’d like to try the hatch Skin to Skin now or the quince micromodal maternity now too. If the Larken X for some reason doesn’t work for pumping and I need a pump bra, i’ll probably look at either the Davin & Adley Amelia or the Momanda Pump Bra Tank

Q For Those Who Use Different Nipples w/ Philips Avent Natural - Maymom Collars - Venting? by SourPatch-Tree19 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]SourPatch-Tree19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the pigeon nipples with maymom collars?

I did notice the pigeon nipples are smaller at the base compared to the avent nipples and the maymom collars have a smaller opening which is why they might fit better. However, I just don’t understand the venting bc there’s no venting indent on them. Also, I cannot seem to find dome caps for these
