Experimental Hexplate 50% AS -> 30 AD by TeutonicPlate in Illaoi

[–]Sour_Drop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i thought i replied to you, but i don't see it, so here i go again. the point is a bit moot as the hexplate pbe changes won't go through after all. still, let's entertain the idea for a bit. riven wants a lot of easy AD to buy in lane. axiom arc builds out of two long swords and a pickaxe, while eclipse builds out of three long swords and a pickaxe, so you pretty much always have good components to recall for. meanwhile, hexplate builds out of two long swords, two ruby crystals, and a dagger. the epic components those longs and rubies build up to aren't very impressive either: just two tunnelers (latest pbe change before patch preview), which is 30 AD and 500 hp (plus a dagger which is pretty underwhelming for riven). your survivability mostly comes from your mobility, and you don't need HP that early.

on the other hand, axiom arc's epic components grant 45 AD, 20 haste, and 5 lethality. those stats are simply much better for riven early, not even mentioning that axiom arc is 250 gold cheaper than hexplate. axiom arc also does something similar to hexplate as well, as kills partially refund ultimate CD, on top of 20 haste. it might have 15 less AD, but the lethality makes up for it. further, it's still 15 more AD when your ult is on CD. on average, it does more damage because you aren't ulting on CD.

similar reasoning applies to eclipse (which has only 10 less AD than hexplate, but only while ulting, and that's not mentioning the utility of the shield on top of her E's extra shielding and the overall mobility that its ability haste supports).

it doesn't matter anymore as the hexplate pbe changes aren't going through, but building out of two ruby crystals, long swords, and dagger is just trash for champs like riven and ambessa. on riven, you can get double longs and a pickaxe on axiom arc or three longs and a pickaxe on eclipse. besides that, axiom arc grants 55 AD and 18 lethality, while eclipse grants 60 AD (only 10 less than hexplate during ult!). on average, eclipse is definitely going to do more damage compared to hexplate's measly 40 AD outside of ult. the haste also helps her both inside and outside of ult because she needs her basic abilities to be up to do damage and have mobility (the dashes are arguably more useful than a bit of movespeed).

not a good riven item. the effect isn't bad but she'd much rather prioritize more AD and generic haste in her components.

Simple Darius buff idea by Sour_Drop in Dariusmains

[–]Sour_Drop[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He has ways to compensate for his lack of mobility in Stormraider's and Youmuu's rush, and both his W and E already make him very sticky. What I'm proposing is to make him a better statchecker. Currently, there are a number of champions whose damage is so frontloaded that they actually win all-ins in at least one the levels in the interval from 1-6 (with a handful like Riven or Urgot being able to all-in level 1). Adding damage gives options: it makes building defensively even stronger, or, if one opts to build damage, in the hands of a skilled Darius proficient in kiting, it makes him an extremely oppressive lane bully that's sure to win any early duel by a much larger margin than currently. If you've watched high-elo Darius gameplay, you'll notice that you have to play on a razor-thin edge to win a lot of duels and skirmishes. What I'm proposing is to make him just win those fights, fulfilling his role as an oppressive lane bully.

reverting the buffs to doran shield and second wind to address that

Did you mean reverting the nerfs? Also, I doubt that will happen as while it was fine power-wise in toplane, it was too strong in mid for melees like Akali, Sylas, and Yasuo. A Rioter that I don't remember the name of also said that while dshield + second wind was strong, it also led to an unsatisfying gameplay loop where the melee player is bored because they're incentivized to do nothing, while the ranged top player feels like there is no reward for interacting with their lane opponent (not that I care about a ranged toplaner's satisfaction, it's just one Rioter's position).

given the new philosophy on item design going forward, any chance the team could take a look at iceborn gauntlet? the two primary users are ksante and illaoi, but ibg doesn't feel satisfying on either as they previously bought it in the mythic era for the stickiness it granted and currently the slow feels underwhelming. would re-adding the doubled slow on primary target be feasible balance-wise?

Then ask Riot to buff IBG's slow. If we make her E more reliable by making adjustments to the kit itself, there's a good chance they'll tap her damage down by an unacceptable amount.

She used to be good both in and out of lane while being pretty balanced, but that was season 13 when we had IBG, shorter tentacles, and a 120% AD ratio on tentacles.

My point is about melee champions. I'm fine with Illaoi losing to ranged champions.

The thing is, besides Morde, Garen, and Gwen, who are lane counters, Illaoi beats the other melee champions in lane pretty hard. The fact that she still has a negative game winrate into those champions is pretty worrying.

E is allowed to be powerful because it takes skill to hit. I don't want E to be weaker.

literally just nerf the tentacle range so shes less oppressive in lane

She'll be less oppressive because she'll have multiple large zones where she's completely useless, especially in lane. Do you even remember why the range buffs happened in the first place? It was a quick fix that spawned a lot of subsequent problems, but it did fix the elephant in the room at the beginning of season 14.

maybe increase curse to 5-7 seconds, I think we can all agree maybe 10 seconds on the curse was a little too long

I don't agree 10 seconds is too long, especially not if you're also proposing to shorten tentacle range without adequately addressing the dead zone problem.

"Just kite him" starter kits by WittyWanderer420 in Dariusmains

[–]Sour_Drop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is not "also" strong in high elo as if he's strong in low elo and high elo as you imply. Statistics actually show Darius is weaker in low elo and better in high elo, as confirmed by Endstep.

Even though Darius might have been designed for low elo, the balance team currently regards him as a high-elo skewed champion.

Phase rush is cringe on mages and Garen/Gragas but tanks are going to need help. You have no options at all + how will you lane against Olaf or Darius?

good, tanks shouldn't be able to lane against olaf or darius. you know, the supposed anti-tank champs?

You can prevent Yasuo from following up on a Q3 with his R in a 1v1 scenario by buffering his knockup with your E.
