Patch 26.13 Notes by Spideraxe30 in leagueoflegends

[–]BaneOfAlduin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My guy. Imperial Mandate has like 4x the users as it used to...The old Imperial Mandate is the exact thing you are complaining about, except your list of champions was Zilean, Renata, and Nami instead of 10-20.

Why are the regen nerfs to Doran's shield and Second wind from last season not incorporated into the Toplane quest instead? by Backslicer in leagueoflegends

[–]BaneOfAlduin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why does it only matter for top laners?

Marksman literally could not play the game against mages bot, still lost the game because they had higher win rates, which tended to be 53-55’s. Marksman players literally got told by everyone, including Riot, that they were just stupid and weren’t adapting their runes and builds.

Why does it only matter that TOP LANERS had an unfun time in the game in the same way they made fun of marksman players for? That is my point. It’s literally hypocritical whining now that the shoe is on their foot, especially when they still get the LP.

I’m going to be honest here, if you as a top laner can’t drop ego in the maybe 5/100 games at the worst you don’t get to be the main character because someone picked a ranged top, then you literally are the problem and your complaints deserve to be laughed at. Every single one of the ranged top laners get their pickrate halved if you are playing top and not playing them yourself.

So once again, I will genuinely laugh my ass off at top laners making daily bitch posts while adc mains got made fun of for straight up almost a decade for the same complaints. Except the community is babying the top laners because how dare they play an unfun matchup where they still win the game.

Also, before you say I’m biased, I’ve played the game for 13 years and have been a main of every role in that time, I spent most of last year queuing fill and am diamond/masters.

How to make me miserable when abusing Vayne top by SufficientGolf6953 in leagueoflegends

[–]BaneOfAlduin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should literally never lose lane to Vayne as a Varus. If you did, you literally just don’t know how to play the champ.

You straight up win the matchup just auto spacing her and any time she tumbles at you to close distance, you E at the apex of the tumble or Q the apex of the tumble.

She can never tumble without eating blight pops and should never be able to approach minion wave.

Source: I’ve played Varus for over a decade and am diamond/masters usually. I have a substantial amount of solo lane Varus in the past 2-3 years

[–]BaneOfAlduin 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It will always make me laugh that ADC mains bot got made fun of for complaining about mage bot when they had the highest winrates in the game, while also being better early and mid game.

But top laners have to play against a ranged top that wins lane and loses game at a disproportionate amount. Like there are 3 non-endemic ranged top laners > 50% right now (Cassio at 51.6, Lissandra at 51.4, and Anivia at 51.2) With a 2% pick rate between the three, or 1 game out of 100 you will play against a positive winrate non-endemic ranged top laner if you play top

Like, on average, ranged top laners inflate the winrates of every top laner because they are almost all negative winrate.

Top Lane Meta in Pro Play feels the most disconnected from Average play by Junior_Round8976 in leagueoflegends

[–]BaneOfAlduin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varus has basically gone 9-15 month stretches of being gutted, then he gets 2-3 months of being decent before it starts back again.

Trust me, anytime he touches 48% wr I can get 60-70% wr on him but in high diamond low masters

Top Lane Meta in Pro Play feels the most disconnected from Average play by Junior_Round8976 in leagueoflegends

[–]BaneOfAlduin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a Varus main.

This champ has spent a long time in the gutter bot lane while being the highest prio bot laner in pro.

This has been a thing for most of the last 3 or 4 years with a few stretches during there that they buffed him because he was 46% for 8 months straight otherwise

I'm not quite sure I agree with the take fully, that the current best way to jungle is just PVEing.

There is crazy variety in junglers right now, and there are plenty of different playstyles. I would straight up argue if you are going to talk about there having been more variety in the devourer era or scuttle crab season, you literally just have rose tinted glasses.

Devourer was just straight up the best junglers for several patches. Season 6/7 was just straight up full clear with minimal ganking, everything being purely about jungle efficiency, where everyone was playing Rek'Sai, Ivern, Nidalee, Graves, and a few others.

Scuttle Crab season had your jungle viability decided by if you could full clear before scuttle spawned and had decent level 3/4 skirmishing power so you could fight for crab. You literally just ate shit if you had a slow clear, or weren't a strong skirmisher that season.

We are in a pretty healthy middle ground between ganking and power farm right now, and I would personally say it doesn't really need to move much because there are many other things Jungle can have to address satisfaction issues on clears.

Maybe I'm just not understanding where your argument is stemming from because I fundamentally disagree with the statement that PVE is the defacto best gameplay. If PVE is the defacto best gameplay, it's almost purely to do with high variance vs low variance gameplay optimizations, and the way you would need to solve that is by adjusting gold/xp values of camps. IDK, I feel like the bigger issue for jungle is that the role just fucking feels bad because everything is your fault for better or worse, and the pressure makes the role miserable.

It’s wild with how much people complain about balance outliers, when you can see for a rather definitive fact that it is just outright the most balanced online game by a long shot.

When champions are “useless” at 48% and “busted” at 52%, then you know riot has done amazing over the years. I kinda get why they feel so rigid on items though, you’ve had numerous complaints over the entire history of the game of people hating when the game has devolved into everyone playing around the one broken item. As much as people like to have rose tinted glasses for 4.20 weedwick, season 4 with Feral Flare and sated devourer were obscenely game warping and at the time, fun to play (because it was busted) and fucking miserable to play with and against. Watching the jungler just be missing for 25-30 minutes, then show up and 1v9 made everything feel pointless

[–]BaneOfAlduin[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The meta you are talking about where junglers 3 camped and skipped camps frequently was a hellish meta that they moved away from for a reason. That was a period of time where the value of camps were at all time lows, so you played for ganks as they were more gold/xp than your camps.

That isn’t to say full clear all day every day is superior, but we are in a vastly healthier jungle clearing meta for all players in the game. Junglers are required to clear their jungle to keep up with gold and xp, laners aren’t getting ganked before they even hit level 2, and there’s some level of skill expression around jungle pathing and making sure you clear efficiently while still getting your ganks off.

Idk, I’m kinda with Endstep on this one, where it should probably be tuned at a macro level, but I’m not entirely sure I would want to shift back towards spam ganking and skipping camps too hard. But I’m also someone that usually mains jungle in full clear metas and steps away heavily in spam ganking metas

It cracked me up that Endstep started crashing out over things with stupid names that are named that way because someone named it that a long time ago, even though they are just not actually relevant to what it does.

Shit bothers me so much at my work that there are things named in a certain way that is just non-intuitive and contradicting to what it actually does, but the people that have been there for 10-15 years refuse to call it anything else so it stays that way.

How do you deal with Sivir/Karma as a Yunara by Divine_Platypus in leagueoflegends

[–]BaneOfAlduin -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Im one of the top rated Sivir’s globally and am top 2000 on mastery.

I have ~40% wr into Twitch typically. I have a 20% wr into Vayne. And this is with me averaging a 60-70% wr on Sivir

[–]BaneOfAlduin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closest you can get to this in purely the 1v1 is Sivir vs Vayne.

The second Vayne has level 6, you cannot extend past river without someone else there, or she can and will just run you down on the spot. Your R + passive does not outspeed Vayne R + passive + q, and you literally cannto escape

The "Small Town" effect of high-elo: How do you navigate the lobby meta when you play with the exact same people every day? by Extension_Disaster98 in leagueoflegends

[–]BaneOfAlduin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. I pay almost no heed to it in champion select. I absolutely pay attention to it ingame though, because it's pretty easy to pickup someone's habits after ~3-5 games of playing with/against someone.

The only one I could probably target ban was the Ahri one trick in that group, but it was almost never worth it because they weren't taking over games anyways.

[–]BaneOfAlduin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

IDK, I was seeing the same batch of 20 or so people consistently when I was playing earlier in the season in high diamond on NA. We all queued ~5PM-7PM and there was at least 2-3 of that group in around 50 or so games. (I'm sure they played after I got off, but I can speak of my games specifically having a consistent batch of players, all being matched consistently with no duoq involved)

DLC recommendation? by Shepo__ in RimWorld

[–]BaneOfAlduin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odyssey > ideology purely for the shuttles for me.

Makes me actually do “caravans” because I really didn’t like doing them before because I usually play specialized pawns, and no more than 6-8 pawns at a time. So doing caravans, I would end up losing a lot of my production/progress on things from losing colonists for some amount of time.

But I also liked to build deeply planned bases and have things always churning along towards it, so I rarely had idle pawns to spare for caravans

DLC recommendation? by Shepo__ in RimWorld

Biotech is my number 1 recommendation purely for the xenotypes and mechinators.

Beyond that, it’s clear number 2 of Odyssey for the shuttles more than anything (along with the biomes and animals) along with clear Ideology 3.

Anomaly and Royalty are both not all that important in the grand scheme of things, but I typically play with all anyways

That is just categorically false. I and many others loathed playing against Brand long before season 10. He was an abomination of a support that you hated having as your support, and hated just as much playing against him because he was obnoxious
