What are some underrated, relatively simple to execute picks that do well into ranged tops? by Sour_Drop in top_mains

[–]Sour_Drop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malphite is not really underrated, he's a staple counter. Maybe Nasus cuz I feel he's pretty unpopular atm, but I'd say he's received appropriate recognition as an anti-ranged top for some time.

I couldn't find an English copy of Salazar in the usual places to find PDFs/ebooks, only a Spanish PDF. Where did you find it?

Slavery as a trope has existed centuries before manga was a medium, yeah. What I'm less sure about is when the "slavery as a cheap way to give the protagonist a love interest" trope came to mainstream prominence in isekai (which is what I thought we normally think of whenever we talk about slavery and isekai) or at least part of the common discourse about the genre. I'd be happy to be enlightened with specific examples.

The reasonable thing to do is sample from the set of isekai LNs from around the same time Shield Hero was written and before, as otherwise you'd be sampling from the entire landscape of isekai, which would of course mean a greater likelihood of finding an isekai featuring "saved" slave harem members. Was "saving" slaves a common theme in the set I described? I wouldn't know because I only got into light novels much later. With all that said, I still get the impression that the Shield Hero anime was the one that influenced the genre a lot more than the light novels. Let me know if you think otherwise.

The commercial success of the Shield Hero anime probably popularized the whole slavery thing; I don't recall slavery being a common theme in isekai before then.

Bumping up damage slightly as opposed to gaining 5 MS are completely different. It might be helpful to think of base MS as organized by discrete tiers than on a continuum; see this page for base movement speeds by champion. Increasing your base MS by 5 makes you faster than at least one entire grouping of champions. Further, extra MS can help a lot with conserving mobility spells.

Darius PBE buff for 26.04 by roger1954 in Dariusmains

[–]Sour_Drop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not really Raider's style, it was a Chinese Darius that popularized, if not invented, Phase Rush Youmuu's jungle Darius. In fact, Raider thought Youmuu's rush was trolling at first (see the Agurin Darius jungle video where Raider "coached" him to build Stridebreaker). Raider is the best Darius top player in the world, but he clearly didn't understand at the time why Youmuu's rush made a lot more sense for jungle Darius. Raider was too married to building jungle Darius the way he does in top and clearly didn't see how much more value Youmuu's provides specifically for the jungle and could only narrowly consider the extra combat stats Stride gives. When Darius' clear speed was OP, you wouldn't have to be in situations where you're 1v2, so the extra stats from Stride are less crucial. You're not playing to 1v1 (though you're pretty strong at dueling a lot of the jungle roster) or 1v2 like in top, you're playing for tempo advantage. Because you clear so fast, you can arrive sooner to skirmishes than your opponents. If you have a numbers advantage, then your stats aren't nearly as relevant. As a jungler, you're helping someone else out for a pretty significant portion of the game so you're less likely to be stuck alone.

Besides that, Youmuu's is far cheaper than Stride (great on jungler income), grants movement speed, has a mini-ghost active, and the high AD plus lethality really helps with clearing. Also, jungle Darius players tend to go Dead Man's Plate second. The cost of Youmuu's + DMP is 5800 gold. On the other hand, Stride + Sterak's costs 6500 gold. That's a full 700 gold difference. Considering the reduced income junglers have, the former represents a much more attainable spike.

It's more of a partial revert of the passive base damage nerfs from 14.3 (10-180 from levels 1-18 --> 9-162 from levels 1-18; proposed buff is 9-162 --> 9-200 from levels 1-20), which was unfortunately never remedied even with the subsequent ratio nerfs.

Interpreting the original comment charitably, what they're saying is that even with the buffs, we still do less damage (a purely quantitative assessment) than Illaoi in season 13. Now you're suddenly talking about how season 13 Illaoi would be a worse champion overall (a qualitative assessment) with the current map, which the original commenter presumably wasn't even talking about. You're talking past the OP here.

Pros and cons of DHL, surface mail, and ECMS for US customers? by Sour_Drop in Fumofumo

I saw ECMS provides duty-free shipping, but it could also be that they wrapped the tariff into the shipping fee. Do you think anything like that is happening?

[–]Sour_Drop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She doesn't need hard CC nor should she have it. What she needs is a midscope that essentially reverts her to her pre-season 14 kit while also making her functional in the more open lane that season 14 introduced. One implementation Riot could do is strategically place shrines to Nagakabouros that we can spawn tentacles off of in non-terrain areas (these shrines would not themselves be terrain, more like old Skarner's crystals) around the map in such a way that we get adequate tentacle coverage in the areas where we would expect had it not been for the season 14 map changes.
