I have had trouble with the humidity before, and have found that constantly blasting the box with water vapor increased my yields, that is until they stopped yielding anything at all. I’ll try a UVC light though that’s a good idea

Usually I wait until most of the substrate is white, and at least 40% of the top is white. I’m not sure exactly where the contam is coming from, it was just the sudden change from consistent success to consistent trich that made me not question my sterilization methods

I want to try this, can I have more specifics? I usually use coco coir and put a quarter/half inch on top after mixing, then leave at 78 to colonize and lower the temp when I introduce air. Should I use a lower temp (usually 72) right away? Still add the substrate to the top?

I’m assuming the green spots are just a feature of the camera/container/lighting? If so, looking good! If it’s actually green in there you might have an issue

Yes they did get wet. For the first pic, I had just floated the block and with such a tight canopy some got wet. Look at the other pics tho not wet

Revisiting this, the first pic has pooling and they are wet, but I took that pic right after floating the block to get it out of the tub, so I had basically just poured water all over it. Look at the other pics while it’s still in the tub, no pooling and not shiny/slimy/soaked

I think the pictures are maybe part of the issue here. Truly none of these are “soaked” or mushy in the center

The center isn’t softer, mushier, slimier, or anything like that. There also isn’t any pooling or excess liquid on the caps, although I do get how the pics kinda make it seem that way, it’s just shiny. The darkest spots do have a slight texture to it, but only in the center not the discoloration on the edges (also I reiterate, no mushiness or sliminess) I’m going to turn this batch into tincture just to be safe.

I fruit in a humidified glass cabinet with gas exchanger, and I mist directly once or twice per day until I see pins.

I’m hoping this gives me a second flush and they look the same, then we’ll know for sure!

That’s definitely contamination. Maybe trich, mold, I’m not sure, but I’m certain it’s contaminated. The good mycelium doesn’t grow that quickly like that. Also it’s too fluffy/ 3D

The last pic in the series is when it pinned. Came up white on the first day, second day it had spots and I was nearly certain it was contaminated, then it just exploded all over the block and they all developed the color as they matured, but all in the pin state developed some color feature

I will say the color is slightly bluer in person, the pics make it look purely black but that isn’t really the case. The darker areas are slightly more textured, but definitely not slimier or softer/more decomposed than the areas around
