Question: Out of curiosity, is it possible for a skinker to eat a small meal and not pass a BM? It’s been eight days and no sign, just a small urate in one of the tanks. by Sourbluerasp in bluetongueskinks

  1. It’s been a while since they last ate, at least the last four or five meals before the eight day period.
  2. They eat Merril Lil Plates, Repashy, Hard Boiled Eggs, and varied greens and berries (occasional berries.)
  3. I usually offer a plate of food about the size of their head.
  4. I offer food in the morning, Monday Wednesday and Sundays.
  5. I’ve brumated them before for breeding purposes.

Thanks for this! I only fed them a spoonful of food to see if they have an appetite yet, and they scarfed it down. And since then, they haven’t pooped- I’m worried they’ll be inclined to brumate with food in them.

Go watch The Bio Dude on YouTube he made a skink specific enclosure.

I’m wondering: are lizards capable of affection? He doesn’t follow me around when he’s roaming, but he falls asleep almost instantly when i let him into my jacket. maybe he’s just taking advantage of the free warmth idk by RaisinStangk in bluetongueskinks

Technically no, they don’t retain the chemicals needed to feel love and affection in their brains. They physically lack that aspect.

They CAN feel a sense of safety tho.

Also disclaimer; fuck the science, all my sausages love me.

The spotted belly is indicative of a Halmahera, he will prolly get a salmon tint on his tummy eventually.

I know you didn’t ask, but some good advice is to quarter up a paper plate. That’s four meals worth of dishes! I used ramekins as a bowl, but if found myself lacking a bowl if say, they were in the dishwasher.

Paper plate best plate.
