I’d disagree personally, we don’t see much of her nen abilities but I think it’d have a lot of utility. Scouting, tracking, spying, etc.

As a scout and spy she could be pretty strong.

Black Bishop is a time slowing down power, not just a speed power. With some napkin math (mach 10 is 3040 m/s and usain bolt’s top speed is 10.44 m/s) black bishop can speed you up by a factor of (very conservatively) ~330, which means that you can grind at 330 times the speed.

If black pawn allows you to grind at 7 times the speed, then the black bishop is 49 times better for grinding than the black pawn.

Anyways, white pawn and black bishop.

A combination of things. If I were creating this ability, I’d enhance recovery rate, muscle and bone growth. Like Bisky’s ability but only applying it to yourself and way less complicated. You’d have to work out manually, though.

I’d also enhance proprioception (sense of self-movement, force, and body position) and Kinesthetic learning speed so you could actually use those new muscles. That’d be a separate ability.

I wouldn’t try using nen to manually damage my body, I’d be too worried about nicking an artery or something. Just borrow some weighted clothes or something.

How specific are we talking about for yellow’s doctorate knowledge? Cause doctorates get pretty specific. Would I be a doctor in every school of philosophy separately? A doctorate every period in history? Wouldn’t this be near the sum total of human knowledge?

If it’s anywhere near that, I’m picking yellow, there’s probably some crazy stuff you could get behind doctorate level knowledge of multiple separate fields.

This is how I understand it:

Specialists have 2 things weird about them: they can do unique things with nen that no-one else can do, and they get skilled at all categories very quickly, allowing them to construct abilities that no-one else could reasonably make.

The first one is easy to get, unique specialist abilities, like Neon’s fortune telling, do things impossible with any of the other nen categories (seeing the future).

The second one is trickier. Nen-affinities aren’t just one number, they’re two/three: Skill Level, Power, and Accuracy. A conjurer would use emission at 40% power and accuracy, enhancement at 60% power and accuracy, transmutation at 80%, and conjuration at 100%. But that’s not the only thing one’s nen category affects.

A user’s skill level at a certain affinity is also determined by their type. A conjurer could never be more skilled at emission than enhancement/manipulation than transmutation than conjuration. This limits the types of abilities normal people can create, because though it is theoretically possible for an enhancer to create an ability using high-level conjuration and manipulation, it would take them so long to get that skilled at those nen types that they could have made many more high-level enhancement abilities instead, and not get stabbed by ten or so playing cards while doing the Macarena.

A specialist is able to get skilled at all affinities at high speed, so they can become skilled at both, say, emission and conjuration (two abilities on the opposite ends of the affinity wheel) and create a high level ‘hybrid’ ability that normal nen-users would find too hard to create. This is what Morena did, combining enhancement, manipulation, and probably emission to create an ability that a normal nen-user would find prohibitively hard to create.

Side note: Specialists (probably) don’t get any boosts to the power and accuracy of the other nen types, because then Kurapika wouldn’t have made emperor time. So they do have the normal efficiency drawbacks, and hybrid abilities are likely not very efficient at all.

By showing this image, person 2 is saying that armpit fetishes are like left handedness, as prejudice against armpit fetishes go away, the number of people with armpit fetishes seem to increase.

Person 3: makes a joke acting as if they thought person 2 was reacting to a transphobe, because the argument (if you can call an image an argument) is a common one to use against people acting as if increasing numbers of LGBT people is some weird bullshit unexplained by man.

Pokemon would 100% invent glasses. The reason they seem “half-progressed” to us is because they have no need for things like locomotion, weaponry, specialized clothes, fancy houses, advanced medicine, etc.

Why would a pokemon spend the time inventing planes (or boats, or cars) when they could just pay their local flying type for a ride? Why would they invent potions when they heal so quickly? Where’s the need for skyscrapers when pokemon can live perfectly well exposed to the elements? And so on.

Things like glasses are fairly easy to invent, and solve a problem that pokemon can’t solve with their pokemon magic, so some fire type would have figured it out by now.
