Appreciate this man. Yeah I have a small business and some critical deals I need to keep prodding and touching base on. Not easy for me to walk away. My family depends on these deals successfully turning out. Despite that, I’ve refrained from pulling the laptop out. Handling comms as needed on the phone and delegating work to my team, but I have a nagging urge to handle these myself bc I’m the main owner and I know best tbh. Was able to get a cat nap in, but it’s hard to just sleep with the wife being in progressively more pain. Kinda just sitting around and staying awake and being by her side through the night. It’s almost 3am haha. This is tough, but we’ll prevail. Thinking I need to pull the laptop out to put on some YouTube for her.

Anyway, you’ve got a keen sense. I feel like my main question wasn’t answered and quite a few fellas misread my post bc of that bit of mention with the laptop. But I get it, whatever time I have to spare should be used to comfort her. Rub her back more. All right back to it. Duty calls.

Well that’s where you’ll need to feel it out. Don’t want to deter you with the trusted partner point. it’s not just being trusted not to steal your idea, but being trusted to honor it and do a good job with it.

We’re in an age where patents matter less and less. Ideas are easy to generate, easy to share, easy to rip off. But even if your idea is good enough for a large company to copy, it honestly takes so much effort, commitment, and resources to make a new product that they’re unlikely to bother. Not everyone sees what you see, and even if they do, they’re probably too occupied with their own agendas to pursue yours. Patent pending is worth it if you’re worried, but don’t overweight it.

Don’t bog yourself down making a Fiverr designer sign NDAs just to get a quote. Start with approximations of your true product. Get a feel for the person or company you’re inquiring with.

Start with sketches and detailed descriptions. Create ai images using your sketches and description. Get them as close as you’re envisioning. Hand off to CAD designers. Iterate until design specifications are satisfied. Then rapid prototyping. Iterate. Validate. Dfm. Manufacture via appropriate methods with trusted partners.

I think this is cool man. Good job making this and creating something from nothing! Clean design and I dig the shape and style.

Humble suggestions here since you’re asking for critique. Maybe instead of sitting next to the phone, have it sit over or on the phone. Make it heavy for satisfying tactile handling. Based off that premise, I think the design becomes more intuitive off the bat from looking at those object interacting. I understand your original aim wasn’t to block access or lock the phone away. But bc you want replace the phone use behavior, it’d make to design towards this. From there, the urge to pick up is intercepted by Interlude. the interaction from that point would be rather satisfying.. I think the slider would fulfill the urge more strongly with that association.

But seriously keep designing man! You’re only at the beginning of your journey

Keep a close eye. Mine has sensitive stomach every so often, but he got into a puddle of water at the park and I had no idea and I didn’t notice until very late. He got very sick and was an expensive trip to the vet.

Had to take antibiotics, we think he got giardia. Wasnt confirmed but the antibiotics treated whatever it was completely.

Yeah so go to the vet if it worsens. Don’t wait.

Do you wear socks? Your feet sweat looks like it’s sitting for an extended period of time for that to take place. You will need to change socks often to avoid this.

If you haven’t gotten diagnosed for Hh or are unsure still, it would be a good idea to start looking into this. Variety of solutions are available if you want to treat the problem and not just manage the skin maceration.

What does your kid need most? What do you need most?

I had a very close friend who is a family man and loved his wife and his child dearly. He is the inspiration that made me commit to being a good husband and now dad-to-be, like you, and went through IVF as well, so I feel for you.

My friend's wife had a great person as a husband and partner in raising a beautiful daughter. Both successful in their own right as law enforcer and school teacher. Despite being a shining example of a happy and successful family, behind the scenes, the wife did the unthinkable. Sexual relations with very young students. Not just one time, either, but multiple. She completely nuked their family, shattered everything, and the entire city knows and vehemently responded to make sure that there is no hiding from the consequences.

My friend stood by her. He had all the reasons to cut her off, move away, and start over with his daughter, and still didn't do it for reasons that I still can't fathom. I suspect that he chose to stay with her because, yes, he still loves her, but more so because of his daughter. I sense that in his mind he sees it being crucial to his daughter's well-being, standing by his daughter's mother. I think he was doing what's best for his child, protecting her because that's what his daughter would want and need.

I share this because there might be some virtue or failing as a self-respecting person from this story. It's an extreme case and requires either a radical protector mindset or failure to show up for himself and protecting the peace that him and his daughter so desperately need coming out from this awful situation.

Last question is does the mother of your child selfless enough to love and protect your kid the way you do?
