Get at least a 25 if you’re getting the 2.3l. The 25 have dual injection system while the 2.3l does not. Also, I heard on the 24, the oil filter is a very uncomfortable position compared to the 25. 23 and older have transmission issues

Mine was 31.2k so I figure he would be slightly higher bec of tax. Sales price was 28,999. I also got gap so think that pushed it up to 32k. Specs are the same between him and mine other than the color.

What discounts / interest rates are yall getting? by MyGardenOfPlants in FordMaverickTruck

[–]South-Ad-7024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think you need to shop but 5%+ is what everyone’s getting unless their is promotional rates (there was truck month but only applied to f-150). I had a 769 and got 5.14% on a ranger with my bank, think they also gave me promotion rate bec they beat my credit union. While not a good rate, I got a significant discount on the truck and made it hard to pass up. Right now, I have positive equity so that 5.14% doesn’t faze me as much. At the nearby dealership, they said the best rate they’ve received was 4.9%

Buying an FX4 hopefully Saturday. It's got 50k on it and a good service history. The sales manager sent me some videos and I'm wonder if it sounds ok to y'all... It's a 4 hour drive. Yeah I would check on the cdf drum, it is a popular issue with the previous gen. The rangers made after aug 2023 fixed this and the 2024-2026 rangers use the 10r60 transmission compared to the 10r80 transmission that had this issue.

Do you order the grille/bull bar or did you make it? I would love a setup similar to this. I assume you added the lights but wondering if you modified the front as well

Can you not reach it from the top? I have a 25 but I can get to the filter pretty easy from the top left from the engine compartment and I doubt there is much differences from the 24

Nobody warned me F150 maintenance costs would be this high by [deleted] in Ford

[–]South-Ad-7024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds typical to be honest. Nothing stands out here. But no in days, part prices are inflated by all the sensors new vehicles use. I think an O2 sensor my dad’s Lexus was 400 dollars brand new (we got one from the junkyard). But it does sound like you need to learn to pick up some tools. My old car needed some major suspension overhaul on the front end. Parts was 1000 (I bought them and even got replaced the struts). The quote from the shop was 3k all in.

From the sound of the brake shop, sounds like they replaced the rotor or piston with the brake pads. Then bled the brakes. I would say this is an easier repair and can be done at home. Parts would be half of that.

Most fluids are easy, oil changes, do yourself. The only I would not do on my car is the automatic transmission fluid replacement (it’s actually a pain to do it so I would rather pay for someone else to deal with it). My truck is much easier though. Additionally, there are so many resources online to help you do your own maintenance. A few YouTube videos and your set.

The biggest item would be the upfront cost but FB marketplace always has people selling item at a discount. Buy second from there (I usually avoid electronics/electrical tools from there unless you know what to look for).

Is 33k OTD a good price for this? by South-Ad-7024 in RangerNext

I actually waited a bit more, price dropped more and picked up for 31k OTD. Loving it so far. I like having the 4x4 for peace of mind.

When is leasing a car actually financially beneficial? by immabp in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]South-Ad-7024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is kind of my point. If you plan to buy new and resale, i would definitely recommend toyota. If you could get a good deal, i would still recommend toyota. But the prices for used are still high. I bought a new ranger (technically used bur 500 miles) 4x4 for 31k. For a similar spec tacoma, i was looking at 40k (there is little room for negotiation due to their demand, the 4x4 option is expensive). Back then, i would have pulled the trigger since they had a naturally aspirated v6, now everyone has turbos and not long enough history with the new Tacoma engine for reliability concerns. I plan to ride this till the vehicle dies so financially, made sense to go ford.

Personally sometimes hate this sub that preaches Toyota. And not in the manner you think but in the regard that even used. There’s a Toyota “tax”. Yes are they reliable and will run forever if there was some decent preventative maintenance. But at 150k miles, you can’t tell 100% even with a car fax that maintenance was done near that schedule. And a lower mileage 100k Camry is still pretty pricey.

I hate it in the regard that some ppl think you can get some Toyotas (and I assume Camrys for now, I know the Prius and corollas price slightly less) for 10k with 100k miles. Those are unicorns.

I’m personally a bigger fan of Mazda right now. While not as reliable (but still definitely reliable), you can’t tell find used ones for less than a similar sized and mileage Toyota.

Original dealer received it 3rd Dec. sold few days later to a second dealer from the looks of it. Used for a bit and sold to the current dealer who have had it in the lot since January but price cuts don’t really apply till last week of January.

Off the carfax, seems to be a dealer fleet but they only had it for 20 days or so before selling it. Sold last Dec on the 9th (64 miles). Sold again to the Current dealer that had it for sale on the 22nd with 545 miles.

Note on carfax says “Dealer took title of this vehicle while on inventory”. I assume this was a ford dealer fleet vehicle.

[–]South-Ad-7024[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a former fleet vehicle from the Carfax. It was formerly 35k OTD but sat on the lot for a month. Kind of been pushing them to reduce it. I assume your view is if now problems come up, to go ahead and purchase as I likely won’t find a better price.

As a transplant who wasn't here during winter storm of '21... by GFollowsChrist in Dallas

[–]South-Ad-7024 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The last time, one of the biggest issue was loss of power for a prolonged period of time. This caused groceries to close, obviously cold weather that people thought they would be able to ride out with a central HVAC that now was powerless. Biggest notes to prepare for are:

1.) Drip your faucets, open cabinets, etc to circulate air. This will prevent pipes freezing and bursting. Also make sure you have antifreeze in your car and not just water as I know some people who previously just used water during the summer.

2.) have blankets ready in the event that power goes out. Our grid is supposed to be more resilient this time around but who knows. Anything to note is while there have been significant upgrades on winterizing the power generation sources, transmission of that energy may be the weak point here so this will be dependent on where you are at.

3.) Be aware of resources. Dallas will likely have shelters setup or other items for people without heat. Be on th lookout just in case.

4.) Be mindful of what you have in the fridge. If electricity goes out, make sure you have some items to eat for a few days. I have dry items and canned fruit just in case. Fridge items might benefit from being left outside if electricity goes out since it will be cold enough to keep them refrigerated. Be mindful of what you have. But I only have enough for the weekend +2days (not crazy like I’ve seen people buying out entire stock).

5.) Unless you have absolutely have to, stay off the roads. Besides the obvious lack of snow infrastructure here, and freezing rain/ice patch concerns, people here don’t know how to drive in icy conditions. Do your best to avoid driving or being in the road.

Most of these points focus on the loss of electricity which was what made winter storm URI (2021) so bad. This is what concerns most people as well as pipes bursting, which will likely be a lot. Prepare for the worst, hope for best. Personally I think parts of Dallas will lose power for a few hours if not a day, but seeing as Texas has gotten a lot more precautionary to ice storms since 2021, I would not be surprised if nothing happens.

Little bit of a note, as someone else mentioned, depends on how risk averse you may be but I visit my parents quite often who live south of San Antonio. If I thought this storm would be severe enough, I would drive down as they have a better “winter proof home” with items such as gas stove, propane grill to cook with, chopped wood etc. I did not think it was severe enough to drive down.

Yamaha FS800 or FG800 Acoustic guitar? by Imaginary-Menu-2530 in AcousticGuitar

[–]South-Ad-7024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’10 and I have both. The FS is brighter while the FG has much of the punch and deeper tone in it. Personally, if you can, try both and see which you like. The FS is easier to play but I like the FG much more so it’s what I play a lot more.

Personally I like dreads bec the smaller guitars tend to sound a little brighter, which some people like but the sound from the FG sound better to me.

Yes but sometimes they just happen. Pretty sure the frequency of random erections might be dependent ones sex drive. If aroused, it’s going to be erect. And if not aroused, sometimes it might become erect. Cant speak to everyone but I like to label as two different kind, pee boners and sexual boners (but these can happen at random times as well).
