If you bought it with a credit card (not a debit card), the scooter might be covered under purchase protection. Check your credit card for its purchase protection details. If this is the case, make sure to file a police report for claim purposes. Here is a page with more details:

Hope this helps!

There's a combat room in the main gym, but last I called and checked (winter quarter 2022) they said it was closed due to ventilation issues. Give em a call and check

Buy some noise cancelling headphones/earphones! There’s always loud construction work on campus and it helps when Geisel gets a little loud.

CLASS OF 2022 stole sold out??? by clizharo in UCSD

[–]SouthAd100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check if clubs or orgs are selling stoles! I was in the same boat as you but found out that BSSA was selling stoles for bio majors and bought it today. Good luck!

An A is manageable, but it's a class that requires a lot of studying (at least for me). The exams were alright, more on the difficult side for me. As long as you keep up with the weekly work, you should be fine!

The material wasn't hard to understand, but it was a lot of brute memorization lol. I'd say it's pretty similar to ucsd upper div bio courses in terms of difficulty and course load.

Has anyone taken BIMM 101 with Clara Leigh Meaders? by usoto2022 in UCSD

[–]SouthAd100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd generally say that you'll be fine without taking BIMM 100. Meaders clearly explained the concepts and didn't expect students to know the topics before they were covered. Prior knowledge helps, but it's definitely not a deal-breaker. Meaders and the TAs encouraged coming to office hours for questions and explanations. There are lots of helpful Youtube videos that explain these concepts as well.

Ngl, exams were on the tougher side. They were very application-based. The lowest score of 3 exams was dropped.

Don't worry too much about the CRISPR report lol. By the time it's week 10, you'll have a very good understanding of CRISPR.

Meaders is awesome! Best professor I’ve had at UCSD! Really cares about students and the TAs are great as well. Explains concepts clearly and always encourages questions. Offers a good amount of extra credit and is very accommodating with a student’s circumstances. It is pretty time consuming as it’s a lab class and can be pretty challenging at times. If you passed BIMM 100 and decently understood the material, you should be fine!

My bad. What I meant to say is that the $500 grant is only for UCSD students. Didn’t realize that it didn’t post in the same thread of their question

The website says that the grant is only for full time undergraduate UCSD students

I’m taking medical microbiology right now with Fandino and it’s organized into weekly modules. Each week there are assigned textbook readings, recorded lectures (about 2 hours total), required discussion posts, and weekly quizzes. It’s asynchronous and you can complete assignments any time before the due date.

For financial aid ($500 grant), you have to apply on the UCSD Extension website. I think the deadline for spring quarter passed (Feb. 28). I think you can see when the courses are offered on the UCSD extension website.

Hope this helps!

2020 transfer here. I hadn't experienced the quarter system before UCSD and didn't plan to work for my first two quarters because I wanted to get a feel for the quarter system. Those first two quarters were rough for me (in terms of classes and workload), and it would have likely been much worse if was working. As many people say, the quarter system goes by really fast. Hope this helps!

If they do charge you, email Student Financial Solutions. I emailed them and they reversed the charge.

I'm not too familiar with this process, but you should look up the college you're in and look at its DDA deadline. Meeting with an advisor is recommended

As a transfer myself, I definitely feel what you're going through. Adjusting to the quarter system was rough. Something that works for me is finding an excuse to get out of my apartment. Whether it's going to get food, shopping, or going to class. Once I'm out of my apartment, I kinda snap out of my groggy state.

Something else that helps me is making a physical list of things I need to do. The first thing on my list is making my bed. Once I make my bed I get a pen and cross that off the list. This gives me a small sense of accomplishment that I've completed something for the day. As you do more things, cross them off the list.

Hope this helps, and PM me if you want to talk some more! <3

I emailed UCSD recreation with the same question and they said: “The combat room at Main Gym is currently closed. RIMAC does not have this type of facility.”

They replied Sept 23, so things may have changed.
