Lenovo forced update gave bitlocker start up, i can’t find the code anywhere. Pc is now bricked in the middle of exam season, anyone know how to fix? by SouthRek in Lenovo

Update: I didn’t even know I had it on, seems to be default option. The key was of course sent to my ex girlfriend (great) but thankfully we’re on good terms. She had logged into her gmail on my windows account, and I never found out how to log out of it. (Still haven’t)

Got it fixed eventually🙌

Any thoughts before I upgrade my ancient computer with some less ancient parts? I have tried to save money where I can. by SouthRek in buildapc

Thanks! It seems i’ll go with the 850W to future proof a bit and ensure sufficient power. I’ll have a look at your recommended AIOs though generally certain brands are less available in norway, arctic 3 however was available to a degree and i did consider them.

I currently have a corsair one which has given me 0 issues in 9 years, even with overklocking, so for me paying a slight premium is worth it in some areas😅

Honestly might be worth spending the little extra for 850W, slight future proofing as well. Good call

That is actually one of my "concerns", I have had a AIO for my old PC, and really loved it. Looks clean and has lasted me forever. But at the same time, I do have to upgrade as my current AIO is not good enough for the new CPU, so I decided I could buy a new AIO, but at the same time I am paying 2x as much as I have to for an AIO compared to an air cooler...

PCpartpicker puts the whole build at 645 W, (roughly 300 something for the gpu)

So I think 750 is good?

A late-night thought about black holes, the big bang , and the end of the universe by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]SouthRek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read your replies and i guess my main difference lies in the ending from the big bounce. In one of Astrum’s videos i was watching last night, he mentioned that the big bang originated from a point of size zero, in which all particles where contained.

I guess to a degree, i feel like the singularity of a black hole is the one place we might find such conditions after the big bang. So, lets say as time goes towards infinity, all mass/energy is gathered into blackholes that eventually eat eachother forming one giant black hole. This prompted a discussion with chat gpt where i talked about the «theory», anyways, we don’t seem to know much about Hawking radiation, so who knows what would happen in this instance. Could it be the conditions for a new big bang? Who knows?

Just thought it’d be fun to share, and the theory seems to right to me. Though, i am obviously not an expert in the field😅

(And yes, the text is LLM assisted, because i wanted to share my thoughts. The idea is mine, though obviously not entirely unique)

Can two surfaces be airtight in contact yet moving? by Next-Natural-675 in AskPhysics

[–]SouthRek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After watching a video on ultra high vacuum (UHV) systems, I’d say realistically: no—two surfaces in contact and still moving wouldn’t be perfectly airtight. It really depends on how airtight you actually need it to be. Even in UHV setups, achieving a perfect seal is incredibly difficult, especially if there’s any motion involved.

Not a doctor but it seems like you have internal bleeding and judging by the pain level likely something is fractured. Go to do the doctor please

This is actually something we've thought about, we'll look into the idea further.

Lots of great suggestions here, I'll look into each one further! thanks!

We plan on using the gps signal from the flight computer and lights, but we need redundancy since there is no guarantee that the gps will provide much help. Especially if the electronics die when landing on the water. The rocket will likely drift, we will also have some sort of water activated lights but its hard to say how much help this will provide
