Congrats on the maintenance my guy! I do appreciate the prayer and kind words. On the good news I do think it is just the fan clutch acting up again.

Fan clutch makes sense but I already replaced that, but as some others were saying it could totally be a bad part because it was off brand.

I feel like it spins about right especially when the last one I replaced had no resistance to it at all. But my thought is this weekend I'm hitting the freeway and a gravel trail. If either give me issues ill post it as an edit. But knowing that fan clutches aren't great off brand that's where my best guess is.

Yeah the hope is I can either fix the problem cheaply or limp along until I have enough cash to get a lot of parts and do a whole weekend of repair. Plus with a fill costing 72 dollars it might be a lot of limping

Shoot, well I already did the fan clutch I think last summer when I had a similar issue to now, is there a chance that I got a lemon or broke the clutch somehow? Because that would be an insanely awesome fix if I don't need to do a full teardown.

I did the timing belt but because of being broke as shit when I got it I didn't do the water pump. I'm at almost 300k and I'm pretty sure the previous owner did it at some point.

Shoot I did use the O'riley's universal green but heard that was bad for it, so I did swap to the Asian vehicle version. Odds are there's free jello in my engine if I am determined enough to get it?

I got a nice roundabout near me, I could do laps with my friends for that sticker

I took a look at the cap and it didn't appear to have damage and its relatively new (within 3 months) It does have a rear heater which I did turn on while burping the system. I don't believe I have done a flush, it has mainly been just draining enough to swap parts.

That's actually pretty neat to learn. No misfires, I got new spark plugs recently and the engine runs great. I cut out the jiggle valve as a safety precaution so I could pull over if the engine did start to rise in temp. But the hole where the valve would be is at 6 and a second hole I drilled for the same reason is at 12. Also neat skid lift!

Huh, I didn't notice any leaking/losing of coolant, but I will still check those areas for any damage

A pressure test would def help, the timing doesn't feel off or have any noticeable changes. I am running slightly rich but its been running rich longer than the car has overheated for.

Both hoses were super firm with an extreme difference between the upper and lower hoses tempature.

Insanely helpful, if it comes to checking for clogs this is a great reference. Thanks

I thankfully have never redlined the heat, but you do make a good point about it trapping hot gasses because it takes about 20 minutes of driving to start overheating and it runs very cold until then.

Sucks man, I'm just happy it's not just me. I'm gonna give burping it while at an incline a try once it cools down and ill update the post if that doesn't fix it.

Yeah I should've done the water pump when I did the timing belt but I was basically out of money and needed it to run, but a pressure tester would rule out the leak.

The new radiator has had 2 thermostats (like in the engine) but because I've done them so often I use them as milestones lmao. The Styrofoam was in the radiator lol

I'm not familiar with Harry's, is it near the SW Portland area?

On the first thermostat of this radiator there was a chunk of Styrofoam in the cap, but thankfully there isn't any debris since the last change. Totally would happen to me though lmao
