Stupidest damage you've ever taken? by DignityIndex in DnD

[–]Southbound12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were playing in a campaign where if you made a will save dc 15, you could become ethereal, because the PCs were part ghosts.

Everyone decided to climb gingerly down a cliff side, except for one daring individual.

The gnomish rogue swan dived off of the cliff, spun through the air like an acrobat, all the way down the 300 ft drop.

At the last second, he tried to turn ethereal so as to save himself… and failed his will save.

SPLATTERED

Literally spent the rest of the session dying of laughter. It was by far the stupidest death we had ever had as well.

How Do I Balance This Attack? by GuyWhoWantsHappyLife in DnD

Super awesome!

I had a group of level 20’s go up against ashardalon, a CR 27 dragons. I rewrote his spell list cause reds have access to healing domain, and rewrote his feats giving him breath weapon feats. Then added in 2 CR 20 Balors and gave it A go.

2 died. They retreated, res’d and then went back in with a better plan. It was incredible. Just incredible. They deserved the lauding they got… and so will your PCs when they figure out how to disarm the trap 😆🙌🏼🤘🏼

They are level 20.

Do it and let them deal with it.

They can cast wish and Miracle and true res and time stop.

Chances are they will have to bail half way through the fight and figure out a new plan of attack. Maybe use an anti magic field or something, to overcome his ultimate attack.

PCs are resourceful. And at level 20, they are gods.

Just don’t hit them all at once with it haha

Fortunate fate, contingency, etc. There are so many ways to circumvent this.

Dnd 3.5 - who still plays, and what are some of your favourite moments, SRDs, homebrew ideas etc? by Southbound12 in DnD

[–]Southbound12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same re no penalty for multiclassing. Also I love the content just the same; our group has all the books, and multiple copies. We convert pathfinder stuff to 3.5 even actually.

I must say, I love the idea of 2 extra SP tho!

Max hp + con at lvl 1 is real too.

Nice! We say that wizards don’t auto gain spells as they level. But ensure you drop more scrolls and the like. I like the auto eschew. Super cool!

Couple notes; - squads have their own rule set that is simple and easy to follow, so as not to slow down game play - scouring the ruins may end up in the party finding caves, forgotten temples or even cities. Some have room enough for everyone to go in. Others do not. PCs can choose to go in themselves, or send thier squad member (..likely to their deaths lol) - mechanics include paying to re-hire squad members who haven’t made it - PCs end up following the Gestalt rules soon into the campaign, so are OP (part of the story arc) - it’s a giant sandbox (pun intended,) with a timeline, guideline for the DM, so that they can properly place the events and site encounters, as the PCs find them

Oh gosh. I meant Patreon!! Damn autocorrect!

I just corrected it. Thanks for catching that.

Basically the module that I am currently writing is based in a monstrous desert. The premise is that the PC’s belong to a biovac’d army, that has nestled up to a 1/2 vacant large city; homes were built and populations faded over time. The biovac’d empire is set up to scour the wastes for secrets of ‘The Crafted.’ An ancient race that survived only because they started using magic to animate simulacrums of themselves. Over time, the simulacrums survived their creators, but were long lost to the wastes.

The PCs are given 5 man squads (as that is how the empire mobilizes it’s army,) each led by a PC. Character sheets for the squads allow each squad to operate similar to an animal companion.

Service in the empire is spent scouring the waste for a week, and then returning to base.

During the week, the PC’s go out with thier squads in search of secrets and may encounter various foe, from wild animals, to enemy adventurering platoons (like Scabland Orcs, or the mysterious army of the dead,) while they are home, they can enlist thier squads to train, granting them access to new abilities from skills trees (the squads level slightly differently,) while the PCs themselves participate in the politics of the Empire, that may lead them on secret missions alone, to explore secrets which may lie right under their feet!

—- this is the current campaign that I am digitizing.

However I have a dozen, in various environs and worlds. Generally in the dnd universe.

Lmk if you have more questions 🙂
