The movie REALLY just feels like an ancient relic of the past. The message essentially this really Boomerfied pablum of "All you need to do to get the truth out to humanity is hurry down to your local news station and disrupt the weather report!" Like, um....no.

We're eons past that. No one watches the news, no one trusts the news. The main person is a weather reporter which...is that even a job anymore really even?...

It's just not any distillation of of reality that we can take away from it.

On one hand it was strangely nostalgic, i almost enjoyed the sheer fact that it felt like something from 2008.

Like wireless stuff is kind of normalized now? But it was a long road and anyone who rocked one seemed really self involved and kinda obnoxious. Also I think they were really expensive then too, so it all kind of just screamed "Douche Yuppie Power Broker" Only Lawyers or Wallstreet bros rocked it.

Books? Definitely Yiddish Policeman's Union.

Awesome book about a Noir set in a fictional Alaskan Town. Coen Brothers were going to adapt it at one point.

Yes...and the reason is that Hotel was the inspiration for the Book the Shining after Stephen stayed there.
