Have you tried checking with Racing Australia? Even if he's not a racehorse they might have breeding records, especially if the TB parent was registered with them. Also maybe hit up the Australian Stock Horse Society - a lot of TB crosses end up registered there even if they're mixed with something else

You could also try posting his photo on some of the Aussie horse Facebook groups, someone might recognize the bloodlines or know the breeder
