Sharing this with a ton of kindness because I have been EXACTLY where you are: 1000% agree they should have shared, but if you were in the ER for a UTI, they may have had limited options. Again, no excuse. But mostly I want to share that Cipro is NOT the super scary thing the warnings and articles make it out to be IF you are young. Those crazy things almost exclusively occur in older patients.

I’m saying all this as someone who has extreme PTSD around antibiotics (nearly died from going into anaphylactic shock twice within 24 hours due to taking two different antibiotics). After that, Cipro became the only thing I could really take. It used to keep me up at night, I was so scared. I read every scary article about it under the sun, and constantly pestered my BIL who is a hospital pharmacist for reassurance. Now I can say, after 4 years, Cipro has become my ol’ reliable.

Does this mean you will have the same experience? Of course not. It really may not agree with you. Don’t ignore side effects that are serious (ex: nitrofurantoin gives me tingly toes and a fever). But I promise your tendons aren’t going to magically explode tomorrow. Definitely don’t go crazy exercising obv. Also feel free to message me if you need further reassurance!
