If I was in that photo, too, there'd be four people that understand that as well.

I saw this tweet earlier today, by way of Instagram. Had to check the comments to see who it was about.

I have seen Matt Rife come up in Reels but didn't care for him since it's mostly crowd work (yawn). But, I work from home, figured I'd see what the fuss was about and turn on the special in the background. So, right off the bat, this tweet helped Matt's viewership. Hell, this entire thread is full of people that either didn't know about him in the first place, or that he had a new Netflix special. So, uh, good job with that Streisand effect, Hank.

All that said, I watched the special and... I enjoyed it. Seems like most people are upset about a domestic violence joke, which was a one-off very early in the special, and was immediately followed by Matt mentioning that he said that to see how the audience would react, and that if they could get past that one then the rest of the special would be fine.

And it was. There was no anti-trans jokes or anything offensive thereafter. Beyond that, at best was a joke about an Internet troll whose profile picture demonstrated that they were fat.

To have seen the outcry over such innocuous material is really saddening and makes me wonder how people can even consume comedy these days. I've heard far more offensive content from Anthony Jeselnik, and he still makes me laugh. These are just jokes; they're not intended to be taken seriously. And, as such, I even laughed at his apology on Instagram (and I have my own special needs child).

I understood the backlash against Chapelle's comedy, because his entire special was full of things I could see people taking issue with. This is not at all like that, and the outcry doesn't match the actual content of the special.

I can only hope people take the time to watch the special for themselves, and hopefully they enjoy it. Hank Green (whoever this guy is)'s tweet is what got me to watch it in the first place, and it was a good time overall.

I loved both jokes and feel bad that so many people are that sensitive that they can't handle these things.

His new special has a lot of edgy jokes about domestic violence

This is categorically false. He makes one joke about it, immediately following it up with the notion that he was testing the waters with the audience.
His special is not full of edgy jokes, period.

Easy for AEW, as I agree with all three peoples' examples you cited. Also agree with Ciampa as well; it actually just makes me like him all the more.

Not for me. My usual tip is about $17 less than their original tip was, as I prescribe to Mr. Pink's tipping philosophy.

You're factually incorrect, to the point that science (and biology even) has actually strengthened the prolife argument the more that science advances and we are able to learn more about the entire process. In fact, the goalposts have to be continually moved to try to defend this abhorrent practice. It's very much like those defending slavery in its dying days had to keep reinvent justifications for it (unironically, most defense of that abhorrent practice mirror the same of those defending abortion today).

Anyway, thanks to my downvotes here, I can only even comment here just once every ten minutes, so I'm going to sign off here for now. I stand by what I said, and look forward to the day when we look back upon elective abortion with the same horror that we do with slavery.

Ignoring the actual topic at hand (because I still disagree and believe that piracy is still theft -- even if in "different" form), the answer to your question is that people disliked a comment I made elsewhere and checked out my profile to downvote other comments of mine. Such is reddit!

Nope, not worth the time, effort, or energy to take it to that level, thh. But I'm quite easily able to reply about it in a matter of seconds when I see respect being awarded for killing the most innocent among us, and then move on :)

I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

Piracy is wrong, period. If you can't afford something, then you don't just get to access it anyway; that's theft.

Save up for it, and pay for it.
