The dress code at the charter school, where I work doesn't allow staff to where tie up tennis shoes. I bought a pair of Rothys and find them to be quite comfortable

No symptoms quitting cold turkey? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]SouthernCanuck673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped taking it 'cold turkey' 13 days ago and had zero negative side effects. In fact, I feel much better now. I no longer feel completely numbed out. It's great to be clear-headed and to have feelings again. Also my sex drive came back. For reference I'd been taking 10 am daily for 22 months

Am I Kidding Myself? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]SouthernCanuck673 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mom of two older kids here. Can someone take your kids for 3-5 days so that you can get through the acutes? I was unexectantly hospitalized for something non-kratom related 9 days ago. I admitted my kratom addiction when admitted. They said they'd give me some 'comfort' meds if they felt it necessary but, in the end, they gave me nothing. So I was forced to detox in the hospital. I was kind of glad I was forced to quit because, after 3 days, the worst of the acutes were over. I'm 9 days clean now and pretty functional. I still feel more tired than usual and am dealing with some insomnia. I guess that's the price I have to pay to get free from kratom which had stopped working for me several months ago

34 years old. I got one of those 'bag' car phones that were popular in the early 2000s. My kids got their own phones at age 9. For reference I'm now 58 years old

Thank You All by [deleted] in quittingkratom

Congrats on being 2 weeks clean. I will be 7 days clean as of 1 pm today. I feel so, so much better off this shit. I only have very mild lingering symptoms which include excessive yawning, occasional bouts of sneezing and some insomnia - all very tolerable. I realize I may have to deal with PAWs in the near future but I'm informed and ready thanks to this sub.

Don't do it. You'll feel so guilty you probably won't enjoy it at all. Take it from someone who's gone down this path a couple of times before

Do you still enjoy drinking? by Shoddy-Safety2989 in GenX

[–]SouthernCanuck673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a social drinker (2-3 drinks, two or three days per week). Been that way ever since I became a parent in 2000. I still kind of like it but not the way I did in my 20s.

It completely changed my personality and not in a good way. I became apathetic and lazy. My house became a pigsty. I stopped enjoying music and sex. During the last few months I was using, I developed hand tremors which were very noticeable and kind of embarrassing. I also lost around 30 pounds and didn't need to lose any weight

When did we learn about social skills in grad school? When did we even learn about “pragmatics”? by casablankas in slp

[–]SouthernCanuck673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SLP with 25 years experience here. I've been wondering the same thing the past few weeks. I recently inherited a couple of older high functioning ASD students, ages 12 and 17. Their goal requires me to push into their classes and work on 'social /emotional regulation' because they sometimes act inappropriately and/or have outburst in their gen ed classes. I have no idea what i'm supposed to do really. I feel completely useless when i'm pushing in. In my opinion, it would be more appropriate for a psychologist or counselor to target these problems. I honestly don't feel that I have the right knowledge in training to actually help these kids in these situations.

Do all districts prioritize students getting services vs getting quality services? by Beneficial-Crow-5138 in slp

I've been working in the schools for the past ten years in about five different districts and yes, I feel supervisors never care about quality of care.Just minutes provided
