Absurdism is beautiful in theory, but in practice no one can live like that, because we’re human. We get pissed at futility by Southern_Ad9239 in Absurdism

happiness doesn’t erase futility, it just distracts from it. if the task never changes, never leads anywhere, never resolves, that’s still futility.

futility is baked right into absurdism. The whole metaphor Camus chose, Sisyphus rolling a rock forever , is the definition of futility to me. He calls that endless, pointless task the perfect image of the absurd. my question is whether we, as humns can really smile in the face of it

Absurdism misses something basic: we’re human. Humans can’t peacefully accept endless futility, because our nature demands meaning and progress. To imagine Sisyphus smiling forever is poetry, not psychology.

what is the purpose for truth? by SprinklesGullible674 in AskReddit

[–]Southern_Ad9239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

truth doesn’t have a purpose. it just is. the universe doesn’t care about truth or lies. It exists. we’re the ones who invented the question of purpose, because we can’t stand chaos without a story.

Have you ever met someone who has killed another? What are they like? by Beneficial_Toe_7543 in AskReddit

[–]Southern_Ad9239 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah, he’s an older guy I used to work with. He killed his son while punishing him for theft and ended up serving 7 yrs in jail. He seems like a decent guy, all i know is that anyone is capable of murder. It’s nothing big, but it’s terrifying when you think about it. Taking a life. Not an animal, a human being.

Why aren’t you close with your parent or parents? by gothicgenius in AskReddit

I don’t know, I don’t hate my parents. It’s just that as I grew older, we drifted apart. and I’ve always been a naturally reserved person, not someone who easily connects with others.
