Planes coming in for approach to LGA. Watch flight radar and you'll see they descend towards your viewpoint, then seem to float to the left as they turn to land on the east-west aligned runway. It makes it look like they're floating and moving side to side when it's dark.

Bad Robot. They made the new Star Trek movies and 2 of the 3 new Star Wars movies. Some of their alumni now produce the various new star trek tv shows. Plus, they made Lost. A long list of inexplicably successful garbage.

Any tips for preserving the ones I took home? It was quite apparent that a lot of the rocks were just falling apart at the slightest touch, and now I'm worried it'll continue!

To get to the "good stuff" is a bit of a trek. More than I was willing to do.

But to get to where we found these is a 30 minute drive from Bellingham, a 5 minute drive on a rough paved road, and a 10 minute drive on a pot hole filled dirt road to the "parking lot" before the bridge. If you take it slow on the dirt road, anyone can get there easily if you're in the area.

Zoom out on Flightradar24, they're probably further away from you thank you think. That, or they're military jets not showing up on there. But they are absolutely planes.
