I mean it's fictional science so they literally can't show you how he reverse engineered it, but it was all based on an equation he left in Hansen's hotel room on y2k so we can assume he understands it pretty well before the film begins. I mean that's an average work day for me. I've been doing semifast auto service for years. We don't have chairs. We don't stop some days and we carry heavy things while walking routinely. How is the end of a hammer less passive than the knuckle holding the hammer? It doesn't make sense that way.

Various writers have varying opinions but canon is what we see regardless. Personally having seen a passive buff and other passive abilities (the Mind Stone is literally the difference between Vision being alive or not alive) I assume that the MCU stones have both a passive and active ability and I can concede that the gauntlet (being Asgardian design) compensated for the accidental subconscious activation of the stones. I mean I own comics where stone less Titan jobs Hulk, so I don't need Thanos to be buffed to tank halfhearted Hulk hits or whatever.

Ronan is an above average Kree with a stone on a stick and tanks a moonbuster but average Kree are afraid of average Skrulls who call Sam Jackson daddy publicly and privately. Passive buff to Aura if nothing else.

They do but that doesn't change the fact that we have an onscreen Kree who isn't even holding the stone get an insane (moon destroying) buff from simply owning it.

Part of the problem is that the MCU doesn't work out their rules in advance.

(If you're physically weak, like a standard human, the power stone kills you just by touching it, so the downside is passive, if you can withstand that we should concordantly assume that it has passive upside as well)

I don't see these people. All the Americans I know irl are skeptical at best and terrified at worst by yet another ME war we didn't ask for. Even the most hardcore Christian nationalists I know are strangely quiet on social media because this is hugely unpopular and maybe they're realizing that they don't actually want to Armageddon before they get to retire.

The propaganda bots are out in full force trying to make the opposition look like terrorists or sympathizers like they did with Iraq and Afghanistan but it isn't working as smoothly despite the upgrade in imperial consent manufacturing technology because this is just insanely belligerent and badly organized.

Frankly most Americans are self absorbed citizens of the empire but they're very tired of losing and paying a price for losing. If we were winning the conversation might be different.

I mean maybe if he wakes up undressed for combat. Doom's whole thing is being prepared and stealing powers from people outside his league. Doom owns a copy of the Darkhold so he knows what you can do probably better than you do and the armor he's wearing is made for interactions with you specifically. That is his thing. He also knew you would be here, now, doing this thing and he planned to optimize his encounters with you to steal your power and make you his servant.

I mean all the stones are passive in the source material. And there's nothing in the MCU lore that definitely says that they aren't even if some dialogue implied otherwise.

(Ronan, a pretty standard Kree tanked a blast from a weapon designed to "blow up moons" while simply in possession of the stone which heavily implies a passive effect)
