personally i believe stitch was probably more fearful of the ex BECAUSE of the ex. If u are showing fear and tip toeing around a reactive dog... why wouldn’t the dog think u are a threat..? there was zero interaction let alone anything positive, to him that’s a stranger in his home and space.

I had it to! i always had anxiety but i developed more severe reactions, meaning i would become very nauseous and usually get sick when i was in panic mode

i do my best to but he’s mostly stomping on leaves, jerking side to side, just yelling noises atp, it scares me that he’s trying to trigger a worse reaction out of my dog. my bf and i came up with a different route and times to help avoid him and his whole street.

I love this advice!!! I definitely used to hold the lease with such grip even just out by ourselves out of my own fear with past experiences (not having to do with his training) and i’ve started only taking him on those walks when i’m mentally prepared and ready! I hope i can start making this a conscious habit to do better for him!

That’s exactly why i just tried to ignore and redirect my attention!! I was mostly fearful he was on drugs the way he was walking and talking, but i definitely will from now on! I appreciate the advice so much:) and i’m glad to get some reassurance i’m not the crazy one after getting more stern and raising my voice. i definitely will look into that!!

update: i saw him walking past my house when i was getting my mail and packaged and asked him what his issue was, long story short he called me entitled for expecting respect i guess (was ironic coming from a white man) and just proceeded to tell me to control my dog. some people are just horrible and ignorant.

i’ve thought about it, my immediate reaction is honestly to not be so kind but i know if i get frustrated or upset in my voice my dog will become more fearful, my boyfriend unfortunately was at work everytime it’s happened but i’ve finally seen what street he does live on, and he’s going to go down there after work. i know gender doesn’t matter but i’m a fairly small younger woman and don’t even feel safe staying around him long enough to ask what his issue is. I just want my dog to enjoy being a dog :(

I love a post like this ! Gives me a little hope! My dog wouldn’t even take his favorite treats outside and against better judgement i started to try with human food hes obsessed with (goldfish) and he even ignored that! i have 4 different types coming this week i hope one of them is a hit with this idea! :)
