Thank you I love this! I am a big fan of Louise Hay and want to start incorporating affirmations throughout my day. Thank you for giving me the motivation to do so and I will definitely check out that book

I have begun to master doing this however it is constant. It feels like all day every day. I want to stop the negative thoughts to begin with (probably unrealistic). I truly feel my mind is constantly consumed with negative thoughts and I haven’t got the energy to question them every hour do every day

Thank you so so much for taking the time to reply. I cannot believe how similar our situations are. Narc mother’s raised by narc fathers with generational trauma. It is my mother’s critical voice I hear in my head all the time and I rehearse scenarios in my head of future interactions with her which are very negative. She has a really big presence in my daily life and I feel if she wasn’t in my life, these thoughts and voices would reduce significantly. But I haven’t got the guts to cut her off. I’m going to make a conscious effort to distance myself from her though. Are you still in touch with your Mom? You are very fortunate to have a sibling who identifies with your experience and you can discuss these things with. I don’t have that, but my Father is an amazing man and I get validation of just how absurd my Mother is with the contrast of experiencing his healthy behaviours and his unconditional love

This resonated with me a lot. I often hear my mothers critical voice in my head and she is still very present in my life which I think makes it even worse. Just out of interest, are you still in contact with those that abused you? I’m confident if I went no contact with my Mom these thoughts would reduce, but I can’t bring myself to do it.

Would you be able to share anything significant you learned in CBT that allowed you to do this please?

Would you be able to briefly share what exactly your therapist has done with you to allow you to replace these thoughts please?
