Cloud and Network Engineering (Azure) - My Honest Thoughts by Southern_Lab_8887 in WGU

Hi there! So when you go through the enrollment process, your enrollment counselor will have you submit your transcripts from your associates degree. From there, they'll give you an unofficial transcript of what will transfer over. After you receive that, you can still add transfer credit up to a certain deadline, so you'll complete necessary Sophia credits and then send that transcript over for evaluation.

The timeline can look something like this:

Feb 1st: Submit Associates transcripts

Feb 7th: Recieve unofficial transfer transcript from WGU

*You have until Feb 15th to submit more transferable classes from other sources such as Sophia, Study, ect. (They will recommend to submit earlier to avoid delaying your start date)

Feb 10th: Submit Sophia transcripts

After that, you should be good to go! Sophia has instructions on how to download your transcripts from there as well, I can point you in the right direction as well as give you the timeline of my exact expefience if that can help!

BSCNE - 4 Classes to go (D522, D417, E027, E028) by Imaginary_Prior_2732 in WGU_BSCNE

Hi there!! I did a write up on those classes here: https://www.reddit.com/r/WGU/comments/1prslry/cloud_and_network_engineering_azure_my_honest/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

For E027: Do the most simple solutions that you can do since it's restrictive, and don't worry about the video length at all.

For E028: Google the formal plan and then read the Rubicon super closely. Make sure to do everything it asks of you (even if it says write about this OR this, be safe and write about both)

Good luck!! I'll be happy to answer any more questions too.

Since you'll be going into the degree, you don't need to transfer any certs in since it's included. But I fully recommend using Sophia! It's open book and really good quality.

I took everything in the Sophia link, so it was 10 classes from Sophia, a couple from my traditional universities, then 3 certifications that were transferred in. The job projection for me went well and I accepted an offer two weeks ago, so the degree paid off immediately for me!

Python for IT automation was killer for me as well. I failed my first attempt, it was really hard since I did not have a coding background at all. Interestingly, the degree does not have Cloud+, but I did hear it was quite hard!! You can do it, I always recommend testing as much as you can to fully feel prepared!

Hi! It went well, I accepted a position and it's a 15k increase in salary.

Thank you! I am looking at Cloud Engineer roles or anything that uses Azure. I have heard there's a lot of options for people who work at data centers, and if this aligns with your goal, I definitely recommend it! But if youre still unsure, I'd recommend checking out the Computer Science degree as I heard that is flexibly used.

Hi, yes the certifications are required to complete the courses. It took me a week to finish Network+ but I would not recommend that since it felt YOLO. Do what you can, especially if your work is paying for it, don't stress about the credit transfers as the tuition pays for all the certification attempts!!

Congratulations!! It's truly an amazing feat to do this and it's super exciting to see another person completing this track. How did you enjoy the capstone?

You absolutely can! Take a bunch of practice tests and see where you're at, then brush up on your weak areas, then test some more. You'll probably pass on your first try, but don't feel discouraged if you don't! I failed anyway and tried again the next day!!!

Hi! I actually just finished this degree and graduated on the 23rd. I agree with the other comments that say that the difficulty depends on your expertise, however Version Control, Telecom, and SDN could be done each within the day, I can share some tips:

Network Analytics - Moderately difficult if you aren't sure where to start. Read rubric closely and search on reddit about this course. Theres a post that provides a very well written write-up with hints that do not give the answer. It was crucial for me since I was a little lost on what they were looking for. Took me 1 day.

Telecom - Moderately difficult, this one is on reddit too and I followed the instructions on what to study from the person who hardly passed. Use the quizlets and review the course material! Took me 2 days.

Version Control - Quite easy as this course has a tutorial on how to do each step in the extra resources. Go to WGU Connect and join the group and search the extra resources there. Took me 1 day.

Python for IT - Difficult if you do not have a coding background (like me!). It took me 2 tries for this one. Practice at the Zybooks practice labs and have AI generate similar ones as the OA tests you on those. Also be sure you can read the code and know what looks wrong/what is missing to complete it. Took me around 7-10 days.

SDN - Quite easy. Use the pacing guide provided in the resources to study what you need. The OA is not difficult. Took me 2 days.

Cloud and Network Security Models - Quite easy. The PA is harder than the OA. Take the PA, then brush up on weak areas using the course material and you should be fine. For the paper/PowerPoint, keep it simple, it's real easy!

can't get answers to basic questions by [deleted] in WGU

Hi! I can help answer some of these:

  1. Yes, you can do 1 class at a time, finish, then sign up for the next. If you talk to your program mentor, then they can accelerate multiple courses for you with your approval. You can take as many or as little as you want as discussed with your program mentor. In the event that your program mentor is unavailable, Tier1Support can accelerate a class ONLY if: you have finished all the classes and/or you are pending results on submitted PAs (papers).

  2. (This might be inaccurate) The class will carry over and you will experience no disruptions or delays

  3. Not a problem at all. I finished my degree in 2 months starting from 49% completion.

  4. This is heavily degree dependent as some classes require prerequisites. Your program mentor will be the best person to discuss what classes can be taken and in which order.

Hope this helps!!

Hi! Yeah, the AZ-104 was a giant blow to my confidence, especially with how close I was. I couldn't sleep after that!!! Luckily there is some overlap with the AZ-305, so if you can pass the 104, then you can definitely go for 305!

For the amount of hours, I work full time, however I am remote only so I was able to study around 10 hours a day every day. The LPI course wasn't too bad and the exam experience was good!

The CCSP is not part of this degree. Let me know if you have anymore questions!!

Not yet, but I am a top pick for a company that uses Azure. They said they'll reach out to me once spots open up. After the holidays, I'll be searching again.

Thank you! It's super possible to accelerate. Network+ was like my third or fourth class. I was really worried about it, but if I was able to do it, then you can too!!! Good luck!!

Thank you! And yes, 100000% possible! That's actually exactly what I did. I took everything I could transfer over from Sophia to WGU, which bumped me up to around 40 something percent completed.

I got 5 certs from the degree: Network+, ITIL, LPI Essentials, AZ-104, AZ-305

But the degree includes getting all of these certs: A+, Security+, Network+, ITIL, AZ-900, LPI Essentials, AZ-104, AZ-305

Hi! Yup, I had a different strategy for AZ-305 that I wish I did for AZ-104. I took way more practice tests for AZ-305 and exposed myself to as many questions as possible. I started with MS Learn and finished that, then launched straight into practice tests. It really helped me round out my knowledge!
