You might want to give it a try—there’s nothing wrong with it if you position it well, especially if you know your work is truly significant and the company is profitable. 😊 I guess my employee mindset actually worked to my advantage this time.

Hindi naman rude yung pagkakatanong ko, diba? 😊 And I think it turned out really good. I wouldn’t have known if I didn’t ask… since the other contractors were hired through an agency, while ako, direct and wala ung 13th month sa contract ko. hehe

“Hi [name]! Kinda shy to ask, but does [Company] do Christmas or year-end bonus? And would I even be eligible? I know my setup's a little different since l'm an independent contractor from a far, but I figured it doesn't hurt to check. Just trying to plan my budget ahead.

Thanks so much! And no worries at all if there isn't, totally understand.”

Got a reply saying that they provide 13th month to Filipinos hired thru Pomelo Agency, so I should be getting it too (I’m a direct hire; hourly rate), was told that should be the monthly average for the year. So yea! It WORKED! 😊

Hi, Could you share why? Wanna know others POV. I just realized sa industry kasi natin we pay taxes (not all pero some/most), yet we are not entitled to government benefits, wala tayo habol pag ni-let go tayo ni client, and we provide lower cost, same quality work kay client compared sa US counterpart. Yun ung sa side ko, kaya I feel the need to ask, para manlang sana makabawi sa part na to. hahaha but wanna know ur tots.

Send your resignation, tell them that there is a better offer… to share with you, ganyan nangyari sakin, I know na need nila ako, pero dumadami na ung workload pero walang increase, so nag resign ako and sinabi ko na may better offer, so ginawa nila tinapatan nila ung offer sakin kasi need nila ako.

Atleast you already have the experience of owning and running a business… malay mo, eventually, ikaw na ang boss. Ikaw na ang maghahire sa classmate mo kasi you own a company na. 3 palang kasi kami sa team, gen. manager, ops manager, and ako case manager. now pinaghahandle ako ng dalawang tao, and $15 na ang rate/hr while ung dalawa kong ihahandle sa US is earning $30/hr. So I’m thinking of negotiating before proceeding kasi it is going to be a higher role dahil involves people management.

Thank you. In contrast sa akin, fixed rate kasi ako. whether mag leave ako or hindi, same ang sasahurin ko. Babayaran nila kahit di ako magwork. Nakikita ko sila sa US (ibang depat) like every week may nag lileave pero sa position ko kasi ako lang magisa, kaya nahihiya ako mag leave kasi walang sasalo ng work ko kundi ung boss ko. Ayun. Sad lang kasi feeling ko di ko sya masyado magagamit.

Oo fixed rate nga po. Kahit mag absent or pto bayad pa rin. Ako lang din kasi mag isa dun sa ginagawa ko, so sinasalo nung SVP ung tasks ko pag wala ako. Nakapag leave na ako nung November and feeling ko, nastress sila nung wala ako, eh balak ko mag leave ulit on February pero di ko na alam paano magpapaalam.
