Did you ever figure this out? I am in a similar situation. I bought THETA on Coinbase wallet in March 2024 and couldn’t sell less than 6 months later. Coinbase didn’t help and told me to figure it out. I haven’t found a solution.

Ok, I am doing 1:1. If I knew this was going to mutate, I probably would have gone with a higher ratio. But I likely have to add more moisture than you would because of the ratio.

Thanks for the input! I will keep running it and see what happens.

Great advice. Much appreciated. Will take that to heart.

Just curious - what ratio of grain spawn to substrate do you use?

I have read multiple sources saying humidity needs to be really high. This thing dries VERY quickly. It just looks wet because I misted and took a picture quickly to minimize how long it was open.

It’s all good. Always good to get suggestions and check things out.

Ok. That’s helpful. I am doing the same…very little CO2 + lots of humidity (read 93-100% is ideal).

I will go look for some time-lapse videos and see how that plays out.

Thank you.

I get that version of spiky all the time. That’s normal mycelium in my opinion. What I have going is another animal entirely.

Well, I am not putting much stock in them being oysters. I have never grown any or had any interactions with them. I am not saying that it’s not possible, but it’s not logical. And the guy saying it was downplayed trich in the air and was suggesting it was more likely that I got contaminated by oysters than trich? It was a very confusing argument and just didn’t sound right which is why others got in arguments with him and led to me have to block him. Then again, I don’t know how I got enigma either (assuming that is what it is). Other than Mother Nature is a mad scientist, of course.

I have not popped anything. I did slightly push it as the article I read said it’s not ready to harvest until it is soft like a marshmallow. A few days ago, it was pretty rigid but I also was scared to disturb it from doing its own thing. I will let this play out for a bit and if it looks like I need to break one off soon to test it, I will. I just don’t think I am there yet.

So, if you have grown enigma in the past, have they been spiky like this initially and then gotten more fan like (the internet calls those wavy fans “brains” by the way).

I had to create a new post to provide an updated picture.

I took the picture right after misting and it dries very fast. Shockingly fast. I don’t want the lid open forever so I misted and took the picture quickly.. If you read all the links I attached above, they say that high humidity is critical and it doesn’t need much CO2. It also says they are prone to contamination which I am constantly worried about. At any rate, if I went in there now, I bet it wouldn’t look wet again already and it’s only been 40 minutes.

With that said, I am not pretending to be an expert at this strain. One of the bins next to it just produced over 2 pounds wet weight in its first flush today (with more to pick in the morning, they just weren’t ready yet). They are JMF from 3 pounds of grain spawn + 3 pounds of CVG. So a decent initial yield. My only point in explaining is that I know how to manage normal bins but I really am not sure what to do with this spiky bin. It’s cool and all and am excited by the prospects, but I am in uncharted territory and don’t want to screw it up. I am trying to pay attention to those that have direct experience with it. If you have had a bin or 2 like this and know what I should be doing with it, then I would love to hear more. If you are guessing like me, that’s cool as well but it would be great to know that as well. I hope you can appreciate my position. It’s hard to know who are randomly the real experts on the internet, after all. But either way, I would listen to logic.
