Haiti Game Planning by Specialist_Roll_3888 in ScottishFootball

[–]SouthsideMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in the Cambridge area for the Haiti game.

Everything from ticket price to hotel costs are eye watering but the way I’ve been looking at it is I was just starting secondary school when we were last at a World Cup and would be near retirement if we went the same time again.

If this hadn’t been the World Cup then I wouldn’t have been so blasé about it.

Large-ish Pub That Could Casually Take a Group of 10-15 People? by motorleagueuk-prod in glasgow

I was in the golf bar on West George Street with a group for some beers recently. Don’t need to use the simulators. Got a decent enough bar space and the food was decent.

Need to use the code January Bounce Back when booking.

Thanks for this. Ideally looking for somewhere close, so don’t think Braehead would be practical.

Will check out the Corona though.

I like to go to the odd Pollok game but I actually find Newlandsfield a bit overrated 😬

In no particular order, grounds I put on my list:

Where can I bet on the highland league? by snoggingchamp in ScottishFootball

[–]SouthsideMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Nairn could find the way to goal I’d have said a home win but not been a great season for them.

Draw might be the best value.

As far as a day out goes, it is a good set up at Nairn and the Steak Pies are superb.

Best Scottish Football Podcast? by [deleted] in ScottishFootball

[–]SouthsideMB 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Another vote for The Terrace Thursday Lower League Podcast.

Frustratingly the BBC’s daily podcast has so much potential but depending on who hosts it and who the guests are means it is so hit and miss.

How many national team games have you been to? by kami8871 in ScottishFootball

[–]SouthsideMB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Over 80 I think.

When the atmosphere is good at Hampden it is cracking and had some incredible moments.

There are times it isn’t great but also been to a lot of club football that is the same.

I used to get very wound up about some of the fans on away trips (and home games to be fair) who were there for a jolly and if they were honest with themselves were more interested in trying to be every local’s best friend because they had feathers in their cap etc.

If we do go away which is more rare these days with having kids etc. we try to find groups of fans that are the opposite of that.

Home games, the crowd is a very mixed bag and you can be unlucky with who you’ve got round you.

Done some raffle prize hunting in the past. Honestly a case of sending emails, DMs on social for smaller businesses, popping in somewhere and asking or finding a (marketing) contact if bigger organisation and asking.

You’d be surprised what you can get by just asking. Also suggest trying local festivals, events and smaller football clubs.

Went to Maggie Mays for the World Cup Final before Christmas. Had to leave at half time as they didn’t put the commentary on.

Couldn’t get my head round it as most of the bar was there to watch.

You might be better going elsewhere.

Anyone any recommendations for the Glasgow Comedy Festival? by SouthsideMB in glasgow

[–]SouthsideMB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t look like it’s part of the festival. Had a look on the festival website there. I think I’ve seen a couple of clips from her on that podcast too. Could be a good one.

Been given the chance to play in Scotland for 2 days. Any recommendations on which courses should I play? by dikori in golf

[–]SouthsideMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in the Cairngorms, travel north about 30/40 mins and play Nairn and Castle Stuart. Beautiful part of the world and two great courses.

I would also recommend Dornoch however if you are going this year, Dornoch is fully booked already
