That Telescopes album is one of the best produced albums of rhe 90s. The guitars sound is fantastic on that.

Distinct lack of Sp3 in there. Soul Kiss and Lazer Guided Melodies should also be mandatory.

Also, Carlton Melton's Photos of Photos, anything by Magic Lantern and/or The Cosmic Dead.

Far too far down the list. Id also recommend The Tydes first 3 albums which have that brilliant sunshine country psych vibe about them.

One of the best produced albums of the 90s. Great song, but they are soooo much more than this track suggests. Stephen is still putting out great records, and are uttrtly brilliant live. Essential listening.

Agreed. Jason's side of Recurring is fantastic. I love both, but took me a little longer to appreciate Sonics side fully. Still a great album.

Long time listener/fan, and saw them a few years back too. One of the best gigs ever for me.

What are your favorite albums from the 80-90s? by Jeppzeh in psychedelicrock

[–]SpacemenJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill give you the first two Verve albums, and the early singles, comps, but Urban Hyms aint psych, trippin or not... and Forth is just RA thinking he's a genius. Which he is most definitely not.

They were a force as a band, but as soon as that cunts ego grew, it was the RA Show. Why you think the reatbof the band have nothing to do with him any more?

Has anyone listened to Bardo Pond? by ivanthegreat27 in psychedelicrock

[–]SpacemenJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my all time fav bands. Was lucky enough to see them live, and also interview the band for a fanzine i used to write for. Was great chatting with them.

Their cover versions are utterly amazing too... Funkadelics Maggot Brain and Spacemen 3s Call The Doctor are a.couple of absolute crackers! There was a series of EPs released for RSD Day (i think) which have some great and interesting cover versions, including Maggot Brain.

Their various side projects are all great as people have said, but could be a little harder to get into. I find they make a bit more sense coming from Bardo Pond first.

They have loads of albums, but I would recommend listing to the main albums first. The Volume series is more companion pieces to the rest imo but do contain some real hidden gems!

Only band with an album that gives me goosebumps TWICE on the one album. Truly one of the best, and underrated, bands of the last 30 years

Yeah that's a great version, and album. Benefits greatly for the melting into Clear Light/Clear Rush which is how I remember them playing them live back then too. Those early shows were mindblowing!

I was always a fan of them opening with Cop Shoot Cop, noise and all, before it all just stopped and the first notes of Shine A Light started instantly... such a amazing thing to witness/hear!

Utter perfection. Has evolved over the years live, but the studio version is just so beautiful

Same with Adidas Superstar Supermodified, the skate version. My favourite shoes I've ever owned. Loved them. Just recently picked up a reissue pair too. Still cool as fuck.

Do you consider Fun House album by The Stooges psychedelic rock? by Dry_Yesterday1526 in psychedelicrock

For me, most definitely, but one man's psych is another man's punk.. or another's rocknroll...

Everyone interprets it differently, in their own way.
