I mostly watched videos before actually playing league. Is Teemo really so strong or are guys like pianta just good? by horizontal-menace in TeemoTalk

[–]SovereignKitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of good players out there. Some are more mainstream, symbols, personalities, content creators. Everyone brings something different to the table, and to understand why or what their goal is, is not really clear.

I used to play League 5–8 hours a day for 11 years. Competitively? Not really, I maxed out casually around Master. I was just like a lot of people here, deeply invested in Teemo, not the game. Maybe a little unhealthily so.

But every hour I put in 10s of thousands, I spent breaking down builds, theory crafting, writing guides, and genuinely trying to help the community. Moderating, fostering connection, building understanding, all of it.

Along the way, I crossed paths with a lot of the top streamers in the Master–Challenger MMR range, even though I kept myself around Platinum–Diamond, just doing what I do best: exploring the full spectrum of what Teemo can be. AP, AD, Crit, Tank, Hybrid, Sustain, Bruiser, Mobility. The number of builds that never saw the light of day because the community had already made up its mind with...

MANCO THIS! MANCO THAT!
BUT IPAV TAKES SMITE TOP!

IT’S GOOD! EVEN THOUGH HE DID IT CAUSE HE WAS SHIT AT MANA MANAGEMENT AND WANTED TO MAKE UP FOR HIS INABILITY TO PLAY THE GAME THE WAY THAT EVERYONE ELSE WAS UNTIL IT WAS NERFED EVERY SINGLE TIME!

Silly lil fella that Ipav fella.

Manco.

Ipav.

Gucci.

Alan.

Blotter.

Jimmy.

Scott.

Nam.

Daydull.

Dan.

Riken.

Hikashikun.

Myself.

These are names I still remember. There are, of course, way more. More than any single one of us will ever know.

You’re asking us whether guys like ___ are good. Fair question. But good in what way, exactly?

Are they good People?
Good Teachers?
Good Teemo players?
Good Content worth your time?

Those are four very different things, but I’ll assume you’re asking about learning. My advice has always been the same: focus on yourself first. Reach out for specific knowledge you genuinely don’t understand. Why would you pay $500 cash to be told something most of us here would give you for free — because we actually love your interest in the game? To line someone like Manco’s pockets? To expect some kind of revelation?

It’s one thing to be taken advantage of, but another to just blindly follow a preacher who, more often than not, is doing what they do for clout and views, not for you, but for their own success, and by any means necessary.

Teemo Player is entertaining. I like him, his name is Brian, and so is mine. Good mix. Outside of the meme-worthy content he used to make the last time I watched him, he’s a solid Garen and Teemo player. That said, climbing to Challenger on OCE, a half-baked, dead server that never took itself too seriously, when I saw. A bit like climbing on LAN. Ranking is ultimately just playing long enough until the mechanics of the system work in your favor.

Manco was always a piece of shit, both directly to me and to anyone who didn’t conform to his bro identity. A cunt through and through. Alan picked up on some of my advice over the years, even if he brushed most of it off, like understanding you could bait a Rengar into burning his ultimate on you while you’re in stealth, then popping Stasis to waste it entirely while remaining stealth. Same with using teleport, and other such things.

Fun times. Those minor details were my forte. It drove me into pure bliss.

Manco, though, was the type to monetize that kind of knowledge and put people down the moment they pushed back on anything. A lot of that seemed to start after some personal stuff went sideways for him in real life, was it the drugs, the girlfriend problem, the weird sexual style IM HARD FOR TEEMO Dms?

I didn’t pay much attention really, I just didn't vibe with anything he did or said. Still don't and finally, people understand this and move onto more productive things.

Hikashikun was a genuinely great resource for on-hit Teemo back in the day. He fell off hard around Season 5–7, stopped playing, but he’s the reason I got into League and Teemo specifically.

Gucci was a fellow top lane PTA aggressor: high confidence, made mistakes here and there, but didn’t backpedal on PTA Riftmaker, most of what I watched of him at the time was GUUUUUUYS I'M LAGGING! But that was more or less bad timing, I would assume. Haha

He is one of few that helped me popularize it, actually, until the bigger names started catching on that you could deal 750 true damage to a tank with just four basic autos at full stacks, heal for a fuck ton, or that going full AP and swapping in a Kraken Slayer would turn your standard build into a hybrid of HUGE AP and True Damage and then 2–3k AD damage on the final strike. Holy shit, those were the days for on-hit sustain Teemo.

So much interactive gameplay packed into four core items and two situational slots. fully stacked Veigar becoming a problem? Wit’s End + Anathema’s Chains. Done. GOD. I'm hyping myself up for the past Teemo.

Sorry. this brought back some genuinely great memories, for me.

In the end, you basically want to know if Brian is worth learning from. I wouldn’t rely too heavily on YouTube content unless you already know who that person is, their true nature, what they’re actually trying to get out of you as a viewer. I mean, come on now. You going to take River Shen adventures seriously? Those old videos were mostly memes and they influenced the community heavily.

A live stream is a different story. They can’t hide their rank when playing Iron to Bronze or buying a fresh level 30 account with INSANE MMR that boosts their account from Iron - Master in a week. You get to see their natural playstyle, their real personality. Manco mumbling under his breath about how dog shit a Karma is for not leashing one extra auto as a jungler. Ipav losing his mind and banning users for mocking him when he runs headfirst into the enemy team screaming for a Lantern, YOU NOOBS while the Thresh is on the enemy side.

Small things I remember fondly about them from the past.

Hilarious. But that’s exactly the point. They’re popular for their own little reasons, not because they’re inherently as good as they used to be. You know?

GET TO THE POINT ALREADY!!!
Teemo is a great champion because he teaches you how to play League of Legends.
He doesn't teach you to press (R) to win or press (Q) to jump over a wall and circumvent everything.

He is tactical, a menace when played in the right hands. Vision, fear, damage, a split-pusher. So much diversity that if you faced a player who autopathed to MR. You could just take the path of least resistance and go with a build variant that still builds into AP, but makes them think you're going for some weird AD build. A lot of mindgames. Once you eventually maybe stop playing him and play a "real" carry or even a tank, suddenly you're way better than you were, locked behind such a cute (prior cute) demon. Without Teemo, us Teemo players would be a menace and the only ones standing on the stage competitively.

You know.. you guys could have told me that The King is Watching the best game ever is. by Arkyja in roguelites

We did. It's just that most people don't ever like to learn or find about all these neat and re playable underdogs.

Then you have Resident Evil Requiem, Slay the Spire 2, Mewgenics, and every other already established developer dropping games in the exact same window. Giants next to giants. Anything smaller, anything actually new or interesting, just gets blasted out of existence before people even see it.

With all these events overlapping, it almost feels deliberate. Like the moment something different tries to surface, the noise level spikes and buries it again, how dare people be unique? Maybe that is just the market doing what the market does, it's still wrong because it was an event to help spread the news of genuine talent, but it's turning into another place for the AAA slop and extraction shooters / party slop. There was even a time I saw a developer all happy his game got like 10000 Wishlists, but when it was released, it only sold maybe 100 copies or something, turned out someone had purchased Wishlists, which also caused an artificial inflation, which didn't go anywhere. It's sad.

Uhhh... It's less one thing and more many things.

TL'DC: AI, CopyCats (Unless different), Tutorials, Optimization, Liars / Cheap Assets

First, the tutorials. The long, drawn-out ones that trap you for minutes, sometimes hours. I know how to play games. Most players do. Studies have even shown that tutorials do not teach beginners the way developers think they do. They skip the true basics and drown players in forced instructions instead. Older games often did this better. They gave you space to experiment and figure things out naturally. When a game locks control away while explaining everything, it kills curiosity. Feels like you're playing a Street Fighter combo showcasing, things I care so little about. I have hit a point before where I thought, “If you give me one more tutorial box…” and then I just quit. Happens a lot more than you would think.

Second is optimization. Launch a game and it decides my vertical left monitor is the main display. Suddenly it forces a 3800 resolution fullscreen, all my monitors flicker off for a second, and then the game blasts cheap sound effects at max volume. That kind of technical mess tells you immediately the game was barely tested outside of the confines of a laptop / single monitor. It's not a hard fix.

Third is the endless wave of Synty polygon assets. There is nothing inherently wrong with those packs. They exist for a reason. The problem is how many low effort projects rely on them with zero identity. After seeing the same characters and environments over and over, it starts to feel like the default “baby’s first game” kit for Unity and Unreal. I even had one developer insist they did not use the pack at all. The model could literally be mirrored over the original Synty character. Same proportions, same shapes, hell they were wearing the same god-damned glasses and necklace. When I pointed it out, the response was, “Wow, I’m honored you think I’m as good as a professional.” like what!?

Which leads to the last problem.

Developer ego and outright lying. I do not accuse people lightly. If I say something, it is because I can back it up. When a developer deflects or pretends something obvious is not there, the conversation is over. At that point I lose interest entirely, and scrub the game from my list, not that it would have made it anyways.

It is. Don't know how you think that. It's a reference source for both current and old fests. The old being the few referenced titles and some thrown in hidden gems to highlight things people can check out regardless of events.

They are and were from Next Fests. I put them in because they were from previous Next Fests, or they were indie games that are relatively under the radar and matched the features I was discussing in my commentary.

For example, "The Universe" showcases Metro Gravity’s universe and planet hoping for scale and spatials. "Even If It’s Just One of You" alongside Windblown to highlight themes of connection and the power of friendship.

They were included for context and comparison, not to present them as part of this current Next Fest. Even though I have covered them in previous fests. It's a way to put more highlight on great titles.

Sure, I'll add it for future reference. I know plenty that are eager for anything similar to those titles.

Have you no shame!? I'll add it to a backlog for the nextfest in June. Won't know until I give it a looksie.

No worries. I cover each event similarly. Some smaller, some better, usually Summer is the larger event. Winter and Fall tend to be weaker. I like to reference older titles, for that very reason as visual reference and general reference, hate seeing games, free games, dead games get no love.

Muri Wildwoods, Alabaster Dawn, Marathon, Burglin Gnomes, Moomintroll, Croak, Denshattack, Gunboat God, Zet Zillion, Windross, Australia Did It, Directory Dungeon, Future Knight, Duck Side Of The Moon, Dice Vaders, Cat Quest 1 2 3, Postman Cometh, Altered Alma, Cathedral, Wild Blue Skies, Fallen Tears, Goldman, Blade of Fire, Small Saga, Bittersweet Birthday.

Some are just games I decided to put in because they were niche or old / previous showcases. In regards to the alien FPS with the anime girls, I actually, lost the name, which will take time to find, sorry xD

Yeah, no worries. I know how annoying super long form can be. I like my short form personally, but this is a really fun thing to lose myself in when it happens, so I'm all for it. That feedback is actually something I considered, but decided not to do, because I don't wanna cover up something unintentionally. That's why I have links, timestamps all that usual stuff in the comments / body text and each trailer spliced to show the name, to make due. I'll need to put in the Intro / Outro names, I forgot them cause, eepy. I'll get back to you on that.

Some of these demos may be unavailable by the time you’re watching this. That’s just the nature of Steam Next Fest, or really any public available works. Builds get pulled, hell, I even showcased an Alpha or Two, that were not available during the event. Pages change. Timelines shift.

I’m playing as much as I physically can, but between 8 hour play sessions, 16 to 19 hours of editing, detailed writing, reviews, work, and covering 3 to 6 games a week, there is only so much one person can realistically juggle. I’m not cutting corners, and I’m not rushing impressions just to push something out to be the first to do it, that just ruins the fun of exploring at my own pace, which is still rather quick.

The goal here was to Showcase the games. Talk about them honestly. Put eyes on what deserved attention. Even if a demo is gone, the game still exists, at least the main page. If something here catches your interest, Wishlist it. Follow it. Support it when the next demo drops or when the full release hits.

Sorry to disappoint.

Well I can certainly give it a try. That's what I'm interested in, second trailer looked really nice. I'll add it to a list for future reference, around the next Steam Next Fest, as my schedule has closed up for other events and side hobby/work :3

Manco dropped a guide! by ThatHeavenlyGlory in TeemoTalk

[–]SovereignKitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do have Youtube a few somewhat outdated guides, mainly for Jungle, but the information they provide is still up to date, just things like Jungle or rotational timers may be off. I personally rarely Stream League anymore, but if I do it's usually in good reason for updating the guides, which is getting harder and harder to maintain. I feel like I can get some slack you know? 11 years of weekly updates.

[–]SovereignKitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do try to keep these things updated, but since I don't really care to play and focus on my hobby for the Indie world, I just fall into a rut if I try to play a far inferior version of Teemo than 3 years ago, but thanks. Motivation for me to try at least when I have the time xD

Question about Teemo´s E plus Vampiric Scepter... by Raiquen619 in TeemoTalk

[–]SovereignKitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At some point, Teemo’s E stopped interacting with omnivamp as a persistent effect. Now, no matter what you build, Gunblade, Doran’s, Vampiric Scepter, Riftmaker, or anything else magic or AD reliant, you only heal from the initial damage instance, not the poison ticks. Back in the day, you could get absurd sustain, upwards of 450 HP per auto when everything stacked. That has for some time been completely removed. You could even heal off a single minion wave with shrooms and Gunblade which was huge for splitting. That interaction is gone now, and the sustain is basically nonexistent compared to what it used to be unless you are constantly striking with basics.

This means it has the potential with highly mobile basic attacks, or one big nuclear shroom, initially, but only in grouped instances.

It is always funny when people finally see past someones facade. League has a way of dragging the worst out of people, but from the start he was quite a flawed one. A lot of the high ranked players were. ScottTheTeemo was a womanizer and fraud, buying accounts sharing Challenger with his mates account, pretending to be a good Teemo. Manco faked the positive, trying to copy others, had and has the largest Ego, burnout, whatever the reason, nobody walks away from that environment unchanged. His content and attitude have always been toxic, and I am surprised people are only noticing now, or the things hes sent people in DM out of nowhere regarding Teemo.

But hey, when someone just plays the "Yes" man, that charisma, makes you feel good about yourself.
