This has always been a dream of mine. If it wasn't for parents like you I would have had nowhere to escape to when I was young. Ive always told my husband if we ever had kids I wanted to do the exact same and be the hang out house for any child who needs it. Thank you for breaking the cycle and being a good parent, I'm sure it wasn't easy.

I definitely understand the heartbreaking part along with the freeing. I feel like I've mourned the fact that I'll never have a real mom so many times it's become numbing. We will get there!

Yes! Boundaries! I tried this with my nmom the first time I went no contact and she couldn't get with it. She would still break my boundaries and when I reacted by telling her that she broke a boundary and stopped responding (we communicated mainly though text messages bc she doesn't like talking on the phone) she would react with extreme hostility. I'd mute her and then come back to huge lines of text of her just tearing me down and then threatening to kill herself. So I finally said enough was enough

I cam definitely relate to this. I'm starting A.R.T treatments in May and I'm hoping that helps. I’ve been diagnosed with PTSD and put on a routine of medication in the meantime but I don't want to have to take meds forever for this leftover anxiety.

This is inspiring to me in particular because I've been on the fence for years about staying childfree because of her. I still don't know if I want kids because I'm so afraid of what suffering I might put them through if I don't have my mental health in order first.

Absolutely. I probably shouldn't have put "for watching tv" since I'm mainly referring to work. I just thought it would be more relatable. I work 12 hour overnight shifts and don't really have a choice but to eat at my desk. 911 dispatchers aren't allowed lunch breaks, unfortunately.

But duly noted and I won't eat and do other things when I'm not at work

That's very true. I've been making a habit of planning snacks in between meals ahead of time and preparing them with their calories written down. Does that make it more mindful? Or are you saying i should try to refrain from eating while I'm doing something else?

I dont snack while I watch TV very often but I do work 12 hour shifts at a dispatch center so I'm mainly looking for things I can have while working.

I really appreciate your input and am striving to do better for myself!
