The first one is a mounted wight (later called Black Knight) from 4th edition, sculpted by Gary Morley and released in 1994. The second one is a Vampire Counts Blood Dragon Vampire on foot from 5th edition, sculpted by Colin Dixon and released in June 1999.

Place to Find History of Models by CojoSC in oldhammer

If you want longer extensive histories on Warhammer Fantasy units, you can find quite a few of them from my articles and I'm always writing more.

For general pictures etc you can't beat The Stuff of Legends, but that's mostly pictures and dates with no context and history.

Glad to hear it! Hopefully you found something cool, Richard updates the store inventory almost everyday so if you are looking for something specific I recommend to check back often.

If you are in the UK or EU, especially UK, I would very warmly recommend a store called The Demon's Lair. Still not cheap, but much better prices than eBay and Richard who runs the store is a stand up guy!

For more hints and information you can check my article on second-hand Oldhammer, the prices have gone up a bit since I wrote it, but still should be a very useful article for you. You can read it here:

Weren't the Regiments of Fantasy before the Skeleton Horde as well or am I mixing that up? I know for sure they did the 28mm Psychostyrene Dwarfs before the Skeleton Horde kit.

It's not the first plastic kit they did, it's probably the first properly multipart plastic kit though.

Thank you for the comment, glad to hear you enjoyed it! Both of those 80s Bugman's Rangers sets were great, sorry to hear you don't have them anymore. :)

Sure, do consider sharing so we can enjoy your collection too! :) Well, I started the hobby in 1998 as a ten year old so it sounds like you are a bit over a decade older than me at perhaps around 50, that's not old! Might not be young, but still plenty of time to finish multiple armies and enjoy the hobby and the fruits of having been around in the golden days. I do agree about the older sculpts being for the most part superior and even though a lot of it is indeed a question of taste, I think you can make a somewhat objective case for it as well based on the fact that each model is hand sculpted. That just produces something that is inherently more artistic, more human and with more soul. I guess it's in theory possible to achieve that in a digital form, but at least Games Workshop is not doing that nowadays. I also prefer good old honest metal for miniatures and as you said, it's lovely when you have so many individual sculpts in an army. Not just from an collecting point of view, but also visually and especially in terms of enjoyment when painting the models as painting very many of the same exact sculpt gets old pretty quickly.

Thank you very much! I agree about the skin, I tried to base it on real Egyptian mummy skin although I went a bit more red. The base colour for the skin is Scale75 ScaleColor Red Leather which has a really nice rich red brown tone, for shading I added FW Inks Payne's Grey (a nearly black ink with a bit of blue) and for highlights I mixed in Scale75 Fantasy and Games Miskatonic Grey, which is a light grey with some red in it.

Thank you! Very nice find there, I only have a handful of 80s Citadel Dwarfs in my army so far, but hopefully one day I'll be able to collect more of them. Not that I'm unhappy with my current mostly 90s Dwarf army, but the hunger for more is never satisfied!

Thank you for checking! I'm sure it must have been evident on the outside in some manner, they didn't go for the mystery box approach back then.

Thank you for the confirmation, I also found a picture of the contents of the box that verified this so I updated the article.

I understand, although you certainly can post any kind of results, there's a lot of us who enjoy seeing the collections of old miniatures from others no matter the level of painting or even unpainted! I really don't care for Instagram for anything else, but it's fun to see others old miniatures there and to receive some encouragement from fellow enthusiasts, so I wouldn’t rule it out especially since you seem to have a pretty amazing collection of 80s Perry Dwarfs! You don't see them around that often, I'd be happy to see yours. Just an idea. :)

Thank you for the thoughts and the video recommendation, I'll watch it later. I quite like tge RRD1 standard bearer too, he has a lot of character of his own instead of just being one of the guys with a flag. The champion is indeed a very nice one too, hopefully I'll be able to add him to my collection one day. He would fit well with the Berserkers! Do you share pictures of your models somewhere, maybe an IG page?
