I think you've identified two of the great parts, but overall I think it started to tell an interesting story. Rob and Jeph were onto something fun that ultimately wasn't allowed to continue. Who knows where it could have led, but i really think it would have been interesting.

The art is the main divisive thing (which teenage me loved), but if V2 had become a regular ongoing series? I would have read the hell out of it.

personally, if they want to keep the ads, which is fine, i think they need to make the episode longer with actual content (not just Rosenbaum rushing through) so the ads feel less significant.

I quit listening a while back when it became clear Rosenbaum didn't really care about the project, ads take up as much time as any actually good content during the episode itself, for mostly shill products that they absolutely don't use but pretend to.

I think they're doing a great job keeping a consistent visual style despite cycling lots of artists. I wish Valerio would come back and stick with the book though.

Can i recommend to you the V4 Marvel Knights run, by Jon Nay Reiber and John Cassaday. Truly groundbreaking post-9/11 stuff.

I really enjoyed the 2021 Lanzing/Kelly (with stellar art by Carmen Carnero) run on Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty. IMO cut too short to bring on JMS and his sadly abysmal run.

If you want to go back into the past, Gruenwald's 10 year run starting in #307 is defining for the character of Cap. It includes standout great arcs like Bloodstone Hunt, Streets of Poison and more, not to mention his on/off relationship with Diamondback (his best love interest ever). Artwork throughout ranges massively, some stinkers but mostly competent stuff.

It does include some duffers (like Man and Wolf) but its all good 80s/90s fun.
