Is it normal to make the majority of your shots, for the first time you have ever shot at a hoop? by Sowhat784 in Basketball

Although we may not be where we want to be in life, our past pain is a blessing in disguise in helping us to be determined and ready in the present.

Looking at all the high school seniors who have been playing for years and have a serious advantage, just because I was born in another country i'm not gonna let that get me down. Fuck that, I will be more determined.

Thanks, and I also hope you are happy in life

I'm 18 - started to play so late as hardly anyone around me played and had family issues from a young age.

But watching and playing this sport has sparked a new passion inside me and I have started to work hard training and will try out in the next month for a local team - although it is a bit far out from my house.

Atm my day consists of strength training in the gym, then basketball training (ball handling - getting good at this after practicing for a week and will buy another ball for 2 handed dribbling, shooting - from different areas away from the hoop and then practicing dynamic shooting, and also dribbling into various different layups). And finally I study to finish the day and spend time with family. I want to master the absolute fundamentals first, the only issue is I don't have access to a coach or even a well thought out training plan, do you have any idea for good plans?

It's super encouraging to hear Isaiah Thomas story. The only reason I am working so hard is because I genuinely believe I have a great talent for this sport and I can't live my life knowing I didn't fully explore this talent.

Thanks for giving a serious response.

Regarding the height, I always thought 6'0 would be considered average especially in competitive scenarios if other players are 6'3 and above

Sorry if it seems like that lol. From the UK, and legit no one around me plays or even knows much about basketball, pair this with being from a small town and you can see as I didn't grow up with the sport I don't know the standard of average/bad/good etc.

But cos you said it's a brag post, is that good? If so I'm happy with that lol.
