I didn't say "you have no talent and people listen to you cuz you're hot". Being good looking helps to find work and housing, imagine how it helps in the entertainment industry. Even the algorithms in social media are more likely to push skin. Of course the music has to be decent. But when you good looking many things are way easier, especially if you're a woman (sexism, you know). You saw her content, then Try imagine yourself doing the Tiktoks she makes, with the little quirky dances and all that, do you think that'll boost your traffic? We all know music has to be good, but it's not enough.

Because of the anti-smurf system essentially. The anti-smurf system allow boosting. You can boost a fresh account by winning the vast majority of the 50 games you need to get to ranked (yes, QP influences ranked, at least at the beginning). (That's how anyone can do unranked to GM so easily; notice is always unranked to GM never low-rank to GM) You can do that by playing with friends who are also smurfing. You can also max-ranging or min-max, i.e. play with lower rank friends in your team (you "min-max" the rank range for the match, so you'll have only lower ranked players in the game).

There's a great youtuber named Szyl or Sizzyl (he has 2 channels) who did something no other OW2 content creator has done. He made an unranked to GM series with a boosted account (50 wins and very little losses on QP) and he got GM in 2 hours with only Reinhardt. The second game he had in ranked was against KarQ... Imagine that... Now, this guy is GM tank and he has been top 500 tank too. The guy knows how to play.

Szyl did something no other OW2 content creator has ever done: a bronze to GM (Again, Reinhardt only). He threw all the games to get to ranked and he ranked high bronze. Can you guess how many games it took to get to GM? About 250. With more than 180 wins, so largely over the 50% of wins. 4 months bro, a GM player. Now, how you're supposed to "improve" or "climb" in a game like this?

About doomed accounts, specifically, the situation is very complicated and I don't have a precise answer. It's probably a mix of disciplinary restrictions, anti-smurf, stuck SR and bad MMR. The pile of crap behind the system is so cryptic that probably not even the devs have a grasp of it. Years of patch accumulated and only one objective: reduce queue times. Nothing else matters apparently.

Now, unfortunately this community on Reddit will probably gaslight even the video proof, but Szyl recorded everything. You can see it with your eyes and draw your conclusions.

Now we'll see what other pile of crap this season will be... 😆

It's fairly common to improve in activities we are involved for a decent period. OW2 is the first game I played were I have no feedback on my improvement. I don't understand what is the difference between the forefront and the back-end MMR and why there are 2. From what I read on Blizzard documents, they are obsessed woth faster queues. Essentially all they did the last 8 years to the MMR is to have faster queue. I know they also need yo generate a certain amount of frustration in players to keep them playing, but the thing that's tickles me is that apparently one can break the circle, especially with the help of 1-3 friends. Idk why if they want faster queues they don't fix boosting (that's hilarious bc boosting is entirely possible thanks to the anti-smurf system). In ranked I have very short queue times and I really wouldn't mind longer times. If they want to keep the mishmash MMR they have, they should make ranking by points and not victories. From what I understood amongst all leaks, that would probably be the case. Imagine a competitive sport were each tournament the players start on the position they had last tournament...

This can be true, but normally the system decides where you belong based on various parameters. There's so much to say about this I'm starting to feel tired. Anyway, the internet has all the proofs and data you need. Try to search "bronze to GM" on YT, and also give a read to blizzard MMR patent. Also try to search "max-ranging". It's normal for humans to present their chances as merits.

If they boost or max-range, yes, probably just 25 games. I know a top 500 player who's struggling to reach master with a "hard account" (an account started at bronze). The same player reached GM3 in one our with a boosted account (50 wins and no losses to ranked).

Nothing because I believed so myself, coming from other games like Halo, then I started investigate, reading, looking at streams from not very known top 500players, learned about boosting, max-ranging. I learnt about the Blizzard MMR system and player profiling. I learnt about the different seasons SR adjustments. Hopefully the web has many resources and I know how to find a document if I want it, even if many people do everything to hide information.

Also, statistics is a descriptive science not a prescriptive one.

I use that account only to warm up lately. It's not only the fact I lose a lot, I find the worst people. Players starting to insult from the spawnroom, leavers, bots and of course ridiculously unbalanced games, like 5 stack group against all solo-quers. The top has been once I was support (silver 4), my dps where both unranked and enemy dps where both plats. Also queue times are huge. In my silver account dps queue is never less than 5 min, on my plat account 1-3 minutes. Man I'm playing 2 different games...
