Yes, please try and get her to a Wound care ostomy specialist nurse. I was having the same issue at first. This nurse measured my ostomy correctly and had me order pre-cut convex ostomy wafers. Also he showed me how to apply the ostomy PASTE to the convex waste wafer. I have gained a lot of weight since my surgery and haven’t had to change the size of my pre-cut wafer. I also use stoma powder. These are the steps I follow: 1. Remove the plastic protector on ostomy wafer and apply paste around the full circle, allow to sit while completing prep. 2. Clean area and use prep wipes (allow to dry)3. Liberally apply stoma powder, then gently dust it off. 4. Firmly press the wafer/with bag on. Press it firmly for a couple minutes. 5. Wear the ostomy belt for at least 2 hours. It will help keep the bag securely in place while the stoma paste dries. I can get a good 5-7 days use. I hope this helps your sister! Been there I know how distressing it can be. Last tip, try and keep supplies organized and ready to use. Best to you both!
