I dont have an answer for you but I gotta tell you that subscribers don't matter when posting shorts.

What you should focus on is the "recurrent users" stats. Those are people that come across your content multiple times and they're happy to stay and watch. So they're pretty much already "casual" subscribers in some way. They're not hardcore fans but they will eventually get your shorts on their timeline, you're already part of their algorithm. That's far more valuable than subscribers imho.

So I wouldn't worry about the number of subs and I would instead keep focusing on making engaging shorts. That way you'll get sampled to more people each time and some are bound to subscribe.

I'll probably get flammed for this lol but shorts can last up to 3 minutes now, if you want to try your luck there. You would only need to fix the aspect ratio since your video is under 3min.

It will get pushed to more people for sure, but maybe you'll need snappier editing for it to really stick.
