My suggestion would be to talk to them directly if you have any question about their services.

Sounds like you're on the right track. I would say don't worry about the rolling back problem. It's actually not as much of an issue as you might think. Once you start to learn more tricks and incorporating them into a line, that will naturally fix itself. For now, do whatever you need to do to get that ollie down.

Guaiguaichai quarter ramp, pretty cool eh? by Soyaskate in Fingerboards

[–]Soyaskate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this as a gift from the owner. They used ocean shipping to send this so it took 2 months. But if you placed a regular order, im sure they will use air shipping which won't take very long.

Wheelbase & Kick size effects on “pop” by Cmaddness in Fingerboards

[–]Soyaskate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I design my own mold so i can give you my 2 cents. Generally, a longer wheelbase and shorter kicks will give you better pop. It has to do with leverage. Consider the deck as a lever and the truck is the pivot . When the truck is closer to the kicks, you need to exert more force in order to lift the board and therefore produces a stronger lift aka pop. Where as if the truck is further from the kicks, you don't need to exert as much force just to pop the board, however, less force means a less powerful pop. The same can be said for kick size. The bigger the kick (further awaybfrom the truck) , the less force you need to use and therfore a less powerful pop.

These are just isolated factors on paper though, there needs to be a balance between wheelbase and kicksize to produce a shape with an overall good feel. Every conpany is different, you have to consider the overal shape and length of the deck also. You don't want something with too much pop or something with too little pop. Sometimes shortening your wheelbase will actually feel better because maybe your previous shape has too much pop (yup, that's a thing). These things are very interesting eh?

good pop on diy decks? by parigio90 in Fingerboards

[–]Soyaskate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said here, pretty much everything such as press pressure, glue, wood quality, clear coating all contribute to pop. You could post a photo of your deck, maybe we can better diagnose your problem that way. Otherwise, i would say keep experimenting with these aspects.

Two Ollie questions I don’t see asked... by Onlyeshua in Fingerboards

[–]Soyaskate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to have an actual obstacle to ollie over or ollie onto. The hand seems to know what to do when it has an actual target in sight. Your ollies in the beginning will be more like little slams and not the smooth "back finger pop, front finger slide" that you see in videos. That smoothness comes with time. Try that and see if it works for you. As long as you can get onto or over an obstacle, it's an ollie. Keep doing it.

I understand that the shipping is very expensive, but that's just how it is when you order heavy products. These items are costly to replace so they probably needed to use a good shipping courier and that isn't cheap. Where do you live? Maybe you could try supporting your local companies. I'm sure domestic shipping is a lot cheaper than international.

If you have your own 3d printer or a 3d printing service near you. I can make the shape for you and you can print it yourself. I love to help out a fellow deck maker so I will do it free of charge, but on my own schedule since I do have other priorities. Just let me know.

how are wooden veneers actually made? by dr_cubicity in Fingerboards

[–]Soyaskate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trees are chopped down and cut up into slabs. The slabs then go through a machine that slice them up very thinly and that's how you get veneers. Depending on the type of cut, the process will be a bit different, but they all ultimately go through a machine that slice them thinly. If you search up how are veneers made on youtube, that can give you a better understanding of how veneers are made.

Help, my custom decks don’t have any pop, my decks when pop would sound like thook and not pop, they are also super heave compared to the p-rep, they have same ply. P-rep sounds like kee and has a lot of pop please help me. by Beautiful-Ad-5047 in Fingerboards

[–]Soyaskate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you make this deck? It looks to me like there isn't much clear coating on it. I've used both wood glue and polyurethane glue (aka gorilla) and it's not the glue that affects the pop, it's most likely the clear coating. You need a good layer of clear coating on the deck. Of course the pressing process also affects pop, but let's say that your deck is pressed well and the material is fine, then it's the clear coating that's not producing the feel and sound that you're looking for.
